In an astonishing display of common sense the Ku Klux Klan has releasd a statement repudiating the activities of the Westboro Baptist Church, denying any connection or sympathy with the hate group.

The Westboro Baptist Church, notorious for the phrase "God hates fags", is best known for its protest activities, which include picketing funerals of fallen soldiers.

The church runs numerous Web sites such as GodHatesFags.com, GodHatesAmerica.com and others expressing condemnation of homosexuality.

The group bases its work around the belief expressed by its best known slogan and the address of its primary Web site, God Hates Fags, asserting that every tragedy in the world is linked to homosexuality—specifically society's increasing tolerance and acceptance of the so-called homosexual agenda. The group maintains that God hates gays above all other kinds of "sinners" and that homosexuality should be a capital crime.

The KKK does not give any reason for the disclaimer, only the following note on their website:

News Release

Disclaimer:

NOTE: The Ku Klux Klan, LLC. has not or EVER will have ANY connection with The "Westboro Baptist Church". We absolutely repudiate their activities.

The Ku Klux Klan, LLC.

It is a testament to the horrific absurdity of the Westboro Baptist Church that the KKK looks like a voice of reason in comparison.

It's not a church. It's a family of lunatics calling itself a church. They demonstrate against fallen soldiers and their families at military funerals. It's old, very sad news, but important for people to realize it Phelps and his family have nothing to do with historic Christianity.

This is a recent post, of course. As long as the Phelps family was content to picket the funerals of presumably-gay AIDS victims, the KKK was happy to share the internet with them. Now that they've taken to picketing the funerals of presumably-straight US service members, the KKK is looking to distance themselves from them. 'Cuz, let's face it, the KKK hates f*gs as much as Freddie Phelps (and probably you all).

Phelps and his family have nothing to do with historic Christianity?

Historic Christianity has a LOT to do with bigotry and violence, even murder, of gays, Jews, pagans, heretics, native Americans, etc.

Phelps is just continuing Christianity's long tradition.

The only difference between the Ku Klux Klowns and the Westboro Bastard Cult is the KKK have learned that overt bigotry doesn't sell. Historically. the Klowns have always held the same sort of christian extremism you're seeing from the idiots in Kansas.

Everybody wants to prove how more closer they are to god, allah than the next person well NEWSFLASH none of us are.The devil find work for idle hands and if you find yourself feeling hate for other people it means your working for the devil.I do believe homosexuality is wrong but i do not think hate people or told any human being that he did. What i do believe homosexuality is a wrong choice like many other wrong choices we all have made.Christ say he that without sin cast the first stone.People who are that judgemental are usually that way because they feel uncomfortable with themselves and their sins then they project on others.

By the way klu klux klan ur no different u all join a group because of a similar hate. There are so many positive things that can be done for your country but instead you have all decided to carry on a legacy of hate/evil.Whatever goes around comes around so be careful of the seeds you sow because those who try to enslave others accommodates the idea of slavery and if you accommodate evil it will come back to haunt you

FYI: Just for added credibility, you might want to adjust your headline to say "Ku" not "K[L]u." Unfortunately, having been raised in/near present-day KKK headquarters, I notice these things.

    Thanks for posting!

I've read that they also travel internationally and went to Austrailia to protest Heath Ledger's funeral.

Religion is like drunk driving there is no more excuses for your state is self inflicted insanity and should not be allowed out the public. I dont think human sacrifice has the power to save anyone sin.
Stone age tribal thinking; your gods footstool is a grain of sand in this cosmic plan and your gods are just way to human to support let along Worshiped. You are a child of the universe not a apple eating mistake. Religon is a big factor in hate, stop the hate in religon stop a lot of hate. I should not have to live as you dictate me to, freedom also means freedom from religion.
