Details Of Terror Attack On Plane Emerging
An apparently known al-Qaeda operative attempted to set off an explosive on an Amsterdam to Detroit flight during the planes descent into Detroit. This would be terrorist boarded originally in Lagos, Nigeria, and according to Representative Peter King is in the database of known al-Qaeda operatives. Luckily this explosive that was allegedly acquired in Yemen was either defective or the man attempting to set it off inept as a bullet was dodged and everyone on the flight was safe.
The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement that people may notice increased security at the airports, but how will this protect us from flights originating in other countries? How did this apparently known terrorist get onto a flight in the first place?
President Obama, on vacation in Hawaii, has achieved his Christmas deadline on the healthcare bill moving out of the Senate. What exactly is he doing in terms of our national security other than his rhetoric? Al-Qaeda, Iran, the Taliban and North Korea all can sense his hesitation, lack of resolve and aversion to dealing directly with the problem of terrorism and nukes.
Thank god today's effort by the terrorists was a failure, but this administration needs to stop focusing on things the country doesn't want, and focus on what it is he was put in office to do! Protect the country and its people.

Opinion is not news. If I want to read shallow writing like this I have a lot of similar NONNEWS sources.
I see, so Obama has been TOO involved with what other countries are doing, yet he was supposed to step and direct security at the Lagos airport?
Since when does the US have ANY jurisdiction in Nigeria?
@Atlas: They'll take any chance the can to blame anything on Obama regardless of whether they have to trample journalistic ethics; even when it is this patently ridiculous. Michael Haltman is the new poster-boy for poor journalism.
1. This was not a terrorist attack, as your article claims.
2. He did not board the flight in Lagos, he arrived at Schipol FROM Nigeria then went on to Detroit.
3. " ... but this administration needs to stop focusing on things the country doesn't want, and focus on what it is he was put in office to do! Protect the country and its people," has nothing to do with your headline "Terrorist attack on Amsterdam to Detroit flight."
4. Write "Opinion: .... " on articles like these as this is not a news report.
5. I wrote a report on this incident and am surprised that such sloppy works gets passed off as news.
Fact Checker, the White house is calling this a terrorist attack.
When were people NOT concerned about healthcare?
I'm hoping that he'll attempt to protect my teeth, as well. I need those to chew, and you can bet that I work my butt off, with no vacations, to deserve that. Thanks for the thought, buddy, but this country and all of it's inhabitants are multifaceted, as are the problems that the president is undoubtedly faced with. What are we without our health. Are you serious?
I suppose you didn't learn much from journalism school. You should look for a new profession
This is some biased bs. According to your logic, every other president was also hesitant to directly attack alquaeda, Iran, the taliban, and north Korea. The only one that did singlehandedly caused alquaeda to migrate to Iraq and presumably even more places in the middle east. And for the record, I think I speak for the majority of people (especially the younger population) when I say I'd rather have free or at least cheaper health care that works than another failed war. If not for my sake then for that of those who can't afford it. Stop being ignorant. Obama for a second term!
c'mon folks, this is the examiner. It's regular joe journalism, which I believe is better (except for assumptions). The scary part is that no one is noting that the reasons "why" the guy got the explosive powder in was simply social engineering, common sense we don't seem to have. It's the theory of connecting flights and socially engineering a way through security by hiding inside the secure shell. Remember the flights the terrorist took, not just the flight incident leg. He came from Lagos to Amsterdam, entered the clean customs zone, and immediately went from there to Detroit. Can we do anything about that? That's the question everyone should be asking today, instead of fluff about political rhetoric..

Note: In my haste to get this article out, it was unfortunately not placed in the correct spot which is of course opinion.
Shame on you! Your vehement hatred is distasteful and misplaced. Grow up.
Hatred of what? Terrorism?
Yet another excuse for this poser to spew more racist venom. I wish this newspaper would find the strenth in itself to dump the Klan members. Jackasses.
Mako Yamakura was correct! Where was the Security at Amsterdam??? US Homeland Security can only do so much in our own country. What about our "allies". I just watched 20 minutes of ABC & NBS news during which there was not ONE mention of Amsterdam? Damn!!!
More people die in the U.S. from lack of health care than from terrorism Michael Hartman. President Obama is focussing on the most important issue for Americans - perhaps you should watch Sicko! Obama should not be blamed for this terrorist any more than George Bush should be blamed for 9/11. The sad fact is that terrorists do exist and even when the U.S. is warned about certain individuals and movements they don't react quickly enough -that said no one is psychic. No matter what we do any where in the world sometimes it just isn't enough, but living in a world of fear and ridiculous knee jerk reaction line-ups to travel to the U.S. is crazy. Life must go on, but heed warnings when they come. This Nigerians father warned authorities and he was allowed to fly - why? Examine that - blame must be placed where the facts lie, not in personal agenda politics.
Got something to say?
