The Dove World Outreach Center, A Fringe Religious Group, Plans The "International Burn a Quran Day" For September 11 To Remember 9/11 And To Take A Stand Against Islam
Instead, What They Will Accomplish Although They Are Small In Size And Even Smaller in Reach, Is An Incredibly Large And Unnecessary Backlash Against The West.
Readers of this page know only to well the position here regarding the rise of radical Islam, and the need for the global understanding that this group has an agenda that moves contrary to that of the west. It is one of intolerance and a belief that all who are not as they are should not exist.
The goal of this relatively small group of radical Islamists (for now), some of whom carried out the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, and elsewhere both before and after that date, is to bring all who believe in otherwise into the the fold of a radical form of Islam. Or if not, to be eliminated.
Readers will also know the view here that the tactic of appeasement being followed by the Obama administration and other countries around the world is a non-starter, as our enemy understands only one tactic, that being one of strength and a clenched fist.
One need only look back some seventy odd years when appeasement of Hitler was attempted to understand that this method will just not work with an enemy such as the one we face today.
For those Muslims who are truly peaceful, appeasement is not necessary because they are not operating with an agenda against the west but are merely following a different interpretation of the Koran. For the rest this action is a waste of time and actually very counterproductive.
Burn A Koran Day
Although this action is being promoted by an insignificant church being led by an insignificant pastor, this fact will most likely not be understood by the rank and file Muslims around the world as the protests over this past weekend have shown.
What we in the west do not want to do is to intentionally radicalize those who are not yet radical. This poses a danger to our troops overseas as well as to Americans around the world. While the reaction of Catholics or Jews to a burning of the Bible day would be outrage with limited violence, we have seen that in the Muslim world this is not the probable outcome.
This "day" will be a public relations bonanza for radicals and a recruitment gift.
Appeasement of radical Islam no. But some semblance of common sense should prevail!

Hey Michael,
While I agree with you pertaining to the sheer idiocy of the 'pastor' implementing and publicizing the 'burn a Qur'an Day', allow me to point out a gaping fallacy in your thoughts concerning Islam, Muslims, and as an offshoot, a fact of reality which you so rightly and clearly cite at the end of your very well written article.
Firstly, the majority, and according to numerous polls done by both Muslim polling companies (at the behest of al Jezerra, al Arabiya, and others) and Western pollers (ie Pew and Gallup), depending on the questions and current political situation ongoing at the time of the polling, 70%-80% of Muslims world wide either support the goals of Jihadists, and/or they support the actual tactics (ie, homicide bombings), so long as those tactics are targeting the West.
When those tactics are sectarian in nature (Shia vs Sunni and vice versa), the support drops to a 'mere' third of Muslims world wide.
What this means in real terms is that when the Jihadists target the West and Westerners 900 million to 1.04 billion Muslims SUPPORT such actions as 'legitimate' in 'defense of Islam'.
When Muslims attack Muslims, 330 million to roughly 400 million Muslims CONTINUE to support the goals and tactics of the Jihadists.
I'm sure you would agree that such support places the overwhelming majority of 'good and faithful' Muslims, 'average' Muslims, in the 'extremist' category.
The proof in the pudding as it were has already been shown with Muslim reaction to the Danish Cartoons, Geert Wilders short film vignette 'Fitna' and various other events which Westerns would consider both innocuous and part and parcel of 'free speech' and 'freedom of conscience'.
Your warning at the end of your articles also proves this point: we in the West KNOW that when the 'Burn a Qur'an Day' comes round, the reaction of Muslims world wide will be one of senseless violence, directed and everybody and nobody, but mostly displaying the Muslim invective toward anything remotely Western.
My point is that there is literally NOTHING of a positive nature which the West can do to 'mollify' Muslims, nothing we can do to show Muslims that we 'mean well' towards them and their religion.
The reason is simple: we are not Muslims and by Qur'anic definition, nothing we do, short of converting to Islam and replacing Secular Law with Sharia Law will EVER 'mollify' or 'satisfy' the majority of Muslims.
Again, polls tell the tale on this point: more than half of Muslims in Britain want Sharia Law to replace British Secular Law. Similar numbers (a bit higher actually) of Muslims in France, Holland, Denmark, and Sweden, want the same thing.
What can we do?
We can DEMAND that Muslims accept, promote, individually and corporately TOLERANCE for non-Muslims and non-Muslim Faiths, both in the host countries in which Muslims live, and especially in Islamic nations.
Tolerance FROM Muslims is what the West must DEMAND. We cannot ask tolerance of Muslims, because they would and do see such 'requests' as signs of religious, political, and cultural WEAKNESS by us.
This is a sad but accurate depiction of what we in the West face.
Those of us in the West must 'man/woman up', get some spines, look at Islam as it is both preached in mosques and practiced in the streets of cities and villages across the globe.
Should we continue in the Appeasement Paradigm, we are lost, literally.
The French, Dutch, Danes, and Swedes are facing this very issue at this moment in time: either the indigenous Europeans peoples get real and legislate their way out of their dire straits, or those countries and cultures will be lost.
The Brits are not too far behind the above European nations pertaining to the 'window of opportunity' to save British culture and history from the Islamization of Great Britain.
America's turn is coming, and it'll be sooner rather than later.
Concluding this installment of 'war and peace', allow me to say referencing 'Burn a Qur'an Day' that we CAN take something positive from it: we can use the multitude of mindless violence which 'good and faithful' 'average' Muslims will commit in response to the burnings, as proof positive that Islam and its followers are NOT compatible with Western values and beliefs in 'freedom'.
The masses of Muslims which will be carrying signs saying 'Freedom Go to HE77' need to be noted; repeatedly, loudly, and publicly: because Islam does not teach freedom of the individual or conscience, and Muslims do not practice, believe in, or tolerate freedoms of individuals.
I continue to enjoy your articles and hope that you will continue to write with such directness on the various subjects you choose: few of us will these days it seems; PC is insidious in so many ways.
Cheers.
Thanks as always for your insights JR.
This is fantastic. How can this be stated well and loud and clear, and repeated regularly in the public?
It is time we demand that Muslim leaders of nations and peaceful organizations around the world LOUDLY denounce violence and terror actions by a certain date publicly and loudly in the VERY short term. If they do not, unsaid words are a statement in themselves.
It is great that we pride ourselves in Freedom of Religion, but I am hard pressed to say that any major Muslim group or sect has actively supported this concept in their own locale. Most Muslims that are not sophisticated or peacefully liberal believe that Islam is the only true religion and it is a primary goal to convert and spread which is happening extensively now under our very eyes and with appalling indifference across America and Europe.
It is interesting moreso that the intolerance of Islam is radicalizing Christian response of violent and disrepectful action, to the event of Koran-burning. I am inclined to say that despite the ensuing violence, the action may be the first bold statement here at home that I've seen opposing radical Muslim violence that endures. Our nation does not heed warning from the international Muslim population, while we understand fear of local violence, we shall not be controlled from afar with fear and loathing against our people and perhaps that violent outburst or response should be quelled locally also by your advisement to your own people for fear of the modern West. We are not afraid, and never have been.
Thank you for this smart letter and I hope you will write more. I am perhaps not the norm, as I am raised Catholic and married to a muslim and while neither of us are truly practicing these sects, we are spiritually inclined. When will America awake, call out the broad and obvious modus operandi of 'Islamization' at work, quickly become wise and leery of being blissfully and righteously tolerant to a fault, and work to fortify our country.
if someone would burn that church, they would be too busy putting out the fire to burn Qurans.
So, Anonymous, you'd rather someone commit arson than have an owner of property destroy some of their own property?
jihadists are burning American flags and that is their property...but, we see the message and it's not really about property rights, is it?...that was weasely of you to try to derail with a false "property rights" debate...the message is "stop the aholes on our side and maybe they will stop the aholes on their side...even if we have to burn down a church to show our aholes we mean business when we tell them to stop adding to the fight"...if you were really peaceable, you would agree.
what kind of 'Man of God' even suggests such a thing? Burning another religion's book of law (not sure how to phrase that)? Where did this so called Pastor get his seminary degree? Out of a gumball machine? I heard part of his 'reasoning' on NHR today and I wonder if he really believes his own nonsense or if he just likes to put on spectacles. While jesus may not have agreed with other views but he would have taken the time to talk to the other party to either understand better thier view or change their view. Pastor Terry needs some updating. Or perhaps we can stone him for breaking the law on Satruday/
Say stop to burn a kuran day...we want no more trouble but love...the pastor needs to realize that if he goes on with this millions of americans are in danger...we need peace not another war...we need to stop the burn a kuran day for the sake of millions of americans
