Burn a Koran bad, burn a Holy Bible okay?

Panic Surrounding Rogue Pastor's Plan To Burn A Koran On The Anniversary Of 9/11

Political Correctness Run Amok As The President On Down Beg The Pastor From Florida Who Has About 50 Followers To Reconsider His Koran Burning Plan

The fear in the west concerning the potential backlash from the proposed burning of the Koran is most probably warranted. One need only look at the worldwide reaction from Muslims when a Dutch cartoonist published something not to their liking. Riots and death threats abounded.

The reactions of the west and of the Muslim world will typically vary in this regard. American Flag burning and rioting is more of the norm in some of these Muslim societies where in the west reactions to distasteful situations will be found most likely in editorials and on op-ed pages.

Christian missionaries may be kidnapped or killed based on the accusation of the "crime" of spreading Christianity, where in the United States and elsewhere there truly exists freedom of religion.

How many churches or synagogues have been built in the Muslim world versus the number of mosques that have been built in the United States? Why worldwide outrage over the asking of the location of the Cordoba House to be moved several blocks away from Ground Zero?

Would the Japanese have been welcomed to build a Temple mere feet from Pearl Harbor in 1950?

How Some Parts Of The Muslim World Have Treated The Holy Bible In The Past, If The Argument Surrounds The Treatment of Holy Books?

I reprint here snippets from four stories that show examples of disregard for the Bible, courtesy of Plancks Constant.

1) 25 May 2005, Saudi Arabia Desecrates Hundreds of Bibles Annually

Washington DC - The Saudi government burns and desecrates hundreds of bibles its security forces confiscate after raids on Christian expatriates worshiping privately or at border crossings.

As a matter of official policy, the government either incinerates or dumps bibles, crosses and other Christian paraphernalia.

Hundreds of Christian worshipers are arrested every year by Saudi police in raids on their private gatherings. Bibles, crosses and printed materials are confiscated and later burnt or dumped into trash. Bibles and other Christian paraphernalia found with travelers into the country are confiscated and destroyed...

2) 10 Dec 2006, Muslim Students Urinate, Spit On Then Burn Bible

TWO Muslim students have been expelled from an Islamic school in Melbourne for urinating and spitting on a Bible and setting it on fire.

The explosive incident has forced the East Preston Islamic College to call in a senior imam to tell its 650 Muslim students that the Bible and Christianity must be respected.

Anxious teachers at the school have also petitioned principal Shaheem Doutie, expressing "grave concern" about an "inculcation of hatred and radical attitudes towards non-Muslims" at the school, including towards non-Muslim teachers...

3) 18 Jun 2007, Christians in Gaza Fear for Their Lives as Muslims Burn Bibles and Destroy Crosses

Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza's Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip's small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned...

4) 19 Dec 2008, Muslims burn Bible in Pakistan

Pervez Masih tells AsiaNews that on that day, he and others were whitewashing and decorating the little church for Christmas. They stopped at noon for lunch, leaving the church open. When they returned, they found the bible and other sacred texts reduced to ashes, and a handwritten letter telling them to convert to Islam if they wanted to "live in peace" and avoid hell. In Pakistan, there is significant controversy over the law on blasphemy, condemning even to death those who offend the sacred book of Islam, the Qur'an. But nothing is done against blasphemous acts toward the books of other religions...

The only idiot I see is the one who refuses to acknowledge that plane parts and bodies of victims fell onto the building, causing significant damage, thereby making it part of Ground Zero.

You'd better stick with the liberal media, sport. Let the grownups discuss the truth.

You guys are falling for more 'divide and conquer' propaganda. You must hate the muslims you must hate the muslims. Well, the muslims were patsies on 9/11 for the private wars, you cant have support for more war unless you get the masses to hate the enemy first.

9/11 was clearly inside work. All evidence points directly to Israel and the US government and corporations. Do a little research and see for yourself, and turn of the mindscrew tv.

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."-- Leading Nazi leader, Hermann Goering, at the Nuremberg Trials before he was sentenced to death"

You sir don't have the courage to use your name, and are most likely not from New York. Are either of these two points correct?

Using the yardage reader from your country club, how many feet is is exactly?

Great article, as always! I certainly hope this situation causes more people to investigate this political, oppressive 'religion' before it garners a stronghold here. Even muslims who consider themselves moderate are potential targets when the radicals eventually penetrate these mosques here in the U.S.

Besides, it's difficult to understand their silence when their voices could be used to make change in their religion, not to mention give hope to the millions of women who are used and brutalized by mad men seeking power..

Great coverage on this story, however this will never be told on any main stream media in the USA. This country is now on a down turn and has no large main (ABC CBS NBC)media to speak the truth about anything... Not about religion or anything.... to bad , I would love for this story to be correctly reported...

I am concerned by this strategy: You do that to hurt me/my religion and that's why it's legitimate that I do the same to you. What is this? A kindergarten? And if it's really stupid what you're doing I'll be as stupid to you.

Great, with this mind set we wil bomb each other back to stoneage soon.

Prejudice mind always focus on prejudice findings. All Muslims by the teachings of their religion have great respect for Bible. Nations , religions and societies are not to be blamed for the acts of individuals. The violation of codes of conduct, rules, laws and religious teachings by the individuals is an instinctive behavior. One should however, judge the difference by the rules in vogue in that particular country, religion or society.
Facts must not be disregarded. Is there no Church in Hiroshima as well as Nagasaki? Same approach may be applied towards a Temple near Pear Harbor or a Mosque near Ground Zero. By the way in Pakistan there is NO restriction on building churches. Some of the churches, even have been built by the government on official land. Can someone educate me if there is any such provision in US government rules?
The other fact; number of Churches in Pakistan( a country much smaller in size)is far greater than the number of Mosques in US.
The differences can't be resolved through such arguments and discussions. For the peace and prosperity, civilized nations always move forward through fair and broader minds.

I applaud you and your open mindedness Mr. Haltman. Come on guys, this guy seems clearly objective: He focuses much of his writing on national security, the war on terror, the presidency and politics as usual. Living in New York, aware that Americans have short memories and our enemy's great patience, he hopes that his articles will help keep us vigilant and aware. <- See? Are you more vigilant? Warriors among us, unite!
