CHARLEROI, Belgium -- Top Gym all-around champion Anastasia Sidorova of Russia dominated the second night of competition at the Top Gym tournament in Belgium, winning balance beam and floor exercise and finishing second on vault.
The U.S.'s Ericha Fassbender and Ariana Guerra were the top finishers on bars and vault, respectively. Fassbender also won silver on floor, where she tumbled a full in pike, Arabian double front, 1.5 to 2.5 twist and double pike, sticking or nearly sticking each of her passes.
Sidorova won balance beam despite falling on her back handspring, back handspring to two feet to two-footed layout combination. Guerra, who had a big wobble on a side aerial midway through her routine, recovered well, finishing with a roundoff, back handspring double pike dismount to win the bronze.
Hungarian talent Noemie Makra, who tied for fifth in Friday's all-around competition, had another very consistent day, taking bronze medals on bars and floor and finishing second on vault with the cleanest routine of the final. Makra is probably best on bars, where she has very good lines and gets great height on her Jaeger and double layout dismount.
Belgium's Antje van de Velde took home her country's only individual medal with a silver on uneven bars. The Netherlands's Tessa Gerrits, who loudly cheered van de Velde through her floor routine, showed good height and form on her Yurchenko full to win bronze on vault.
Tonight's event final in Belgium also served as a team final of sorts, with athletes being grouped into different "countries". The mixed team of South Africans Claudia Cummins and Kirsten Beckett and Belgians Ellen Rabaut and Florence De Bruyn won the title over the Netherlands's Maartje Riukes and Gerrits and Belgians van de Velde and Frances Jacobs.
Belgium III -- Ine Verhelst and Berangere Fransolet and France's Sophia Serseri and Mira Boumejmajen -- placed third.
