No matter what the season, it's cold when all you've got to wear is a leotard.
Different countries bundle up in different ways to keep warm when they're not on podiums. The Chinese bundle up in winter coats. Fabian Hambuechen and the German guys often sport thick knit gloves.
And who can forget those almost floor-length puff coats worn by the Japanese men in Rotterdam? The image of Kohei Uchimura slowly removing his long, robe-length white coat and handing it to his trainer before going out and nailing his floor exercise is one of my defining memories of this year's World Championships. He looked like a champion prizefighter.
In that vein, above and to the left (click the pic for a full size image) is a snap of the always entertaining Tatiana Nabieva between events at the Pas-de-Calais meet earlier this month. At least she matches her boots to her leo.
Happy holidays, everyone!
