NYPD anti-gun zealotry extends to flintlocks

Courtesy Oleg Volk, A Human Right

Brooklyn resident Michael Littlejohn has the fanatically anti-gun Bloomberg administration pegged. From Joseph Goldstein of the Daily News:

"This is the last legal gun that you can have without registration in New York," Littlejohn said. "And yet Mayor Bloomberg is driven crazy by my flintlock gun - the one that won the American Revolution."

It seems Mr. Littlejohn had the gall to order a custom-made vintage rifle replica. And the "Only Ones" Bloomberg does trust with guns are intent on bullying him into obtaining a license for it.

But here's the thing--as defined in New York City Administrative Code - Title 10 Public Safety:

§ 10–305 Exemptions. The sections requiring rifle and shotgun permits and certificates and prohibiting the possession or disposition of assault weapons shall not apply as follows:

b. Antiques and ornaments. The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to antique rifles and shotguns which are incapable of being fired or discharged or which do not fire fixed ammunition, or those weapons manufactured prior to eighteen hundred ninety-four and those weapons whose design was patented and whose commercial manufacture commenced prior to eighteen hundred ninety-four and whose manufacture continued after eighteen hundred ninety-four without any substantial alteration in design or function, and for which cartridge ammunition is not commercially available and are possessed as curiosities or ornaments or for their historical significance and value...

We learn the cops found out about Littlejohn's purchase when he left a receipt at a Staples copy center. Wouldn't it be nice to find out who the enuretic authority-worshiping snitch is, if for no other reason than to put the same public spotlight on them that they felt justified to anonymously put on a fellow citizen?

And why are the cops still busting his chops when the law seems clear?

The lead detective on the case told Littlejohn's lawyer that he had orders "from higher-ups" to pursue the case...

Why Littlejohn was giving them the time of day is proof that he's sincere, has nothing to hide, and is correct in insisting on having his rights observed. But as we've noted before, we have nothing to gain and much to lose by doing so--see the video embedded at the end of this article. And neither did the gun maker, particularly one in Tennessee. He should have told them where to go.

Here's how you deal with this:

What's the name of "the lead detective"? What's the name of the "higher-ups" who are abusing their authority to enforce an agenda of prejudice rather than the law?

They can issue a summons? It seems Littlejohn could start issuing legal demands of his own, including a demand for them to prove their lawful authority to pursue this, except for one major obstacle:

Lawyer Joyce David...represented Littlejohn until it became too expensive...

Leviathan can throw unlimited resources at an individual until he breaks. That's evidenced by the startling admission that police "sat down this month with the Tennessee blacksmith who forged the rifle."

How much money does NYC have to throw around at outrageous extra-legal vendettas like this? Who went to Tennessee? Who ordered them? Let's see all the travel expense receipts--gas, hotel, meals...

Particularly at a time when Furious Mike is issuing press releases claiming:

With the nation's economy in recession - and New York at the epicenter of the crisis - our tax revenues plummeted.

His solution?

The best course of action for the long haul is to continue to be fiscally responsible...

True, the Littlejohn investigation isn't going to break the bank. But it is indicative of a city that will squander public safety financial and manpower resources just to bully a citizen. Maybe they have too much, and should return some of the funds?

We're told Littlejohn on his own hasn't got the clout "to make the NYPD retreat." I'd love to see an outfit with the resources who do, say folks like the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund, come to this man's aid, and publicly knock the bully on his tail.

One last item: When you go to the Daily News article I used as the source for this column, be sure and take the poll. You just have to shake your head in wonder at the slave mentality that voted "No. Since he does not have a license, the police have a right to take it away."

Wow. And now they try to ban the guns that they have said all these years that the 2A is actually allowed to protect.

Bloomberg: "But back then the Founding Fathers never imagined the new assault guns that we have today so it doesn't apply."

Mr. Littlejohn: "Oh ok, so that means you'll leave my flintlock alone right?"

    Bloomberg:"No! Its a gun! MINE!"

The clearest example of this is the people's republic of Massachusetts. The very place "the shot heard round the world" is one of the furthest from the American vision. It has gone on so long and so thoroughly that a lot of the people who live there claim it has to be that way, a glaring case of "Stockholm syndrome".

I've come to believe that confronting the perpetrators of these monstrous violations of unalienable rights and exposing their lies is not enough. They need to be sued, and where possible prosecuted. Both the statutes and the evidence are crystal clear, the only real impediment is the hostility and indeed complicity of the legal system. But, then, the legal establishment has been complicit in heinous crimes before and eventually got with the program. For one example review the Dred Scott decision and the abolition of slavery some time. Hopefully it won't take civil war this time to do the trick this time.

Obiviously we citizens do not have the necessary funds to litigate the government. Vote for new representatives. That not working what is left for us to do?

Obviously, Bloomberg and his cronies don't care what the law says, even their own laws. After all, those laws are nothing but a damn piece of paper!

People said for years we didn't have the funds for court action. All the while they've said that, Alan Gottleib and later Alan Gura have been proving them wrong.

Yeah, you're right, if you stand around bemoaning the fact that the hoplophobes have essentially unlimited (stolen) tax money at their disposal to persecute us, nothing will ever happen. But I can tell you from personal experience that you CAN accomplish something in court.

Let's just look at the numbers. There's supposedly 8-10 million hard core RKBA activists out there. If every one of them donated a buck a month to SAF or one of the ongoing legal cases already in progress, that's around $100 million A YEAR. You can get credit cards, phone service, and lord knows what else that donate a part of your bill to pro-gun groups.

I don't offhand know what the total cost of Heller was - less than a million, I'd bet. Want a hundred wins like that? Save your pennies, and badger your pals...

Vote with your feet and move to a gun-friendly environment. Why would anyone live in New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, etc? Come to Texas and be free.

Yes, please, anyone from a gun-hostile state please move to Texas, and take your liberal politics with you. I'm rather tired of them moving into New Hampshire and ruining the place. (grin)

David this is more than the antis in NY hating guns.

They know that what’s going to happen this fall is so horrible that people will resist.

So they are throwing cold water on the issue hoping no one starts building homemade Black powder rifles.

This is ALL about discouraging people from owning guns!

The powers to be don’t want the people to even have a flintlock replica or not.

The anti gunners are nothing more than puppets of the elite.

The Supreme Court ruled " A individual right".Well, we are all individuals no matter where we live. Wash D. C. is with in the states, not one of them. It is the cesspool of the states .This also was not something our founders would have ever dreamed would happen. Don't you think the anti's would have claimed a "flintlock"a assult weapon ? It is ones duty to bear arms for his family and yes ones country. This is exactly why they gave us the 2nd ammendment, they knew there would be a fool named michel bloomberg.

Alright. It is obvious they have declared war. When? The first infringement on The Peoples ability to defend themselves from an individual AND the government. Hey! Aren't the Armed Forces sworn to uphold the Constitution and protect this Country from threats, both foreign AND native soil? Hmm. Congress has power to declare war. So in essence, they give orders to the military. Congress represents The People. We the People should give the order to the military.

I know, I know, only if things went the way they were suppose to.

We have to stick together or be enslaved to those in government who feel the need to Rule the masses. The NRA has a visa card,Marathon USA has long distance service, Outdoors Unlimited has DSL.Use only gun friendly companies who help support our cause(freedom).Don't buy Kraft, Ben&Jerrys,or support organizations that are anti-freedom(AARP,etc.)Use your wallet people, or they will use the money you spend against you!Makes sense to check the SAF for hostile names of companies and groups who haven't got any of my money for 30 years...Give NRA memberships as gifts for Holidays.
