"[W]hen the Supreme Court ... overruled Chicago's ban on handguns, they literally opened the floodgates for a drastic rise in shootings, instability and homicide in a country that already leads the way in lethal violence," Al Sharpton writes in The Wilmington Journal.
With its incomprehensible growth in homicides and violence, Chicago became the forefront for advocates to create some semblance of change and hope in the troubled city. And as the highest court sets us back in the fight for justice and peace, the focus is again back on the distressed streets of the windy city.
Good grief. If anything, that should prove the futility of prohibition. What's incomprehensible is to keep going back to what can't work.
The McDonald decision ruled Chicago's total ban violated the Constitution. It remanded the case back to the Seventh Circuit Court. With the Daley administration still pushing edicts that restrict as much as they can outside of complete prohibition, including licensing and registration, attempting to limit guns to one per person and forbidding their possession beyond a home's interior, it's tough to see how much more "reasonable" the hoplophobes want gun legislation to be.
But we know those are just buzz words, usually accompanied by the accusation that "the gun lobby refuses to compromise" on "common sense gun laws."
It's called "projection."
And the end result? Even a licensed gun in the home is too much for the anti-defense zealots, and if you don't go along with them on that, you're the one who's being unreasonable and extremist.

I Am America
I agree with friends who recommend helping this video go viral:
I've been disappointed in much of the "advocacy music" out there, finding much of it well-meaning but clumsily executed. This is very well done and, I think, quite powerful.
Meaning quite truthful.

If you missed yesterday's Trigger Sports LIVE! you can still see it over at American Trigger Sports Network's main page until next week.
Click here to watch internationally-recognized defensive gun use authority Massad Ayoob identify some considerations that we'd all do well to keep in mind both during and after an armed encounter. Then see how a nice mother and daughter refused to be victims and defended themselves and their store, after which James and I share a nice punch in the middle of a busy Seattle street. This is followed by the Irby Mandrell Memorial Shoot and the US Open 2010 Sporting Clays Championship event sponsored by ATSN.

If Al Sharpton after his many failures changed sides on the gun issue no one would care and he knows it. He would not be welcomed as the conquering hero by gun advocates so he will stay on the side that garners him as much media attention as possible, namely the anti gun people. The McDonald case at least gave the honest hard working blacks of Chicago the chance and the right to defend themselves. I can bet you the ratio of blacks arrested on gun charges prior to the decision far out numbered the whites arrested. And don't tell me Daley's administrations does not see color. What you are going to see are honest blacks having the chance to defend themselves and they will because they understand their world far better than we do. I think McDonald did more for the black people of Chicago than Al Sharpton ever will when it comes to saving honest black people from being victims in their own homes. God bless Mr. McDonald for his courage to stand up and be counted.
...And as the highest court sets us back in the fight for justice and peace,...
That's rich. It wasn't the highest court that set them back...it was the Constitution of the United States of America.
The "REV" must not realize that regardless of his title, he's supposed to be a defender of freedom. That is a Biblical principle after all.
Next we need someone in the media to let us know how Ozzie Osbourne feels about the McDonald ruling.
One of the great tragedies in modern America is that there are actually people with an above room temperature IQ that care what Rev. Al thinks about anything, and a media corps that are willing to waste time finding the answers for them.
Hey David,
The Rev Al, were he white, would STILL be in Prison for having caused the deaths of several innocent people, who died during a RIOT, which the Rev INCITED!
Once again, a superb example of 'equal justice under the law'...with some being 'more equal' than others.
I listened to the You Tube Video and man o man, O MAN! Can that woman ever SING!!!!!!!!
She has a SUPERB voice, great presentation, the background video was fantastic, and the lyrics truly innovative.
The one lyric about Pro Pols remaining greedy whilst Rome Burns is a line which should be incorporated into Tea Party Campaigns across the country.
This is the year We the People either take back and save our country, OR this is the year that America goes into the Dust Bin of History.....as a failed experiment in Self-Government.
Personally, I don't think we will succeed, but it's almost always best to go down fighting instead of with a whimper.
Cheers.
Well, we all know that Sharpton has been suffering from a severe case of cranial-rectal inversion for quite some time, so take pity on him. Maybe ObamaCare will help him.
Sharpton is still around?
Well yes, Bob, he's very round!
I am disappointed in Al. He has not been maintaining the spring-release mechanism that holds the race card up his sleeve. Yeah, that card that leaps out every time he opens his mouth. Maybe he's mellowing in his old age? I don't or care about the numbers of white or black people in Chicago who have commiteed armed crime. I care that everyone who wants to have a gun, has a right to do so. Mayor Daley can take a hike. Chicagoans, arm up!
Robert the decision just reafirms the right of ALL people to keep and bear Arms, well almost.

Funny photo up there... Obama's body language says "yeh, keep movin', loser!"
You can also play Nine Inch Nails "The Hand That Feeds" or Muse's "Uprising" - that can serve as an advocacy song for any side...
For 28 years Chicago police have been arresting people, confiscating their property, extorting money from them and unjustly imprisioning them, under an Unconstitutional Law. The USCS has previously found that an unconstitutional law was invalid from the time of it's passage, not simply from the time it was found to be unconstitutional. I would like to see a good lawyer file a class action suite against the city of Chicago seeking redress for every person ever charged under their bogus law. Not even Daley could ignore the consequences of his actions if he had to pay for them, or explain to the people why his actions had cost the city so much.
As soon as the people of Chi-town send their dear leaders packin back under their rocks, the people will have a chance to defend themselves. And yes that includes the people of all colors. What are these morons in charge up there thinking? Oh wait, I keep forgetting they have the control and intend to keep it at any cost. We're with you people of Chicago who wish to protect yourselves.
Realistic View: CHICAGO is in the situation its in simply because 'the people' are IGNORANT & GREEDY - like the Politicians they ELECT {key word}. Pity not those who bring on their own wrath - for they ALL will end in the flames which their own hands created...
DONT FEEL SORRY FOR CHICAGOANS. THEY'll RE-ELECT DALEY FIRST CHANCE THEY GET!!
DOM- "...'the people' are IGNORANT & GREEDY - like the Politicians they ELECT {key word}."
If voting could actually *change* anything it would be illegal. Those who vote against the status quo, in Chicago or anywhere, should not be forced to live with the stupidity of the majority. This is why democracies and republics always fail.
Remember Tawana Brawley! Al?
