Illegal Immigrant Unemployment Rate at 10% of Estimated 11.1 Million

As reported on September 1, 2010 by Jeffrey Passel and D'Vera Cohn with the PEW Hispanic Center, according to new estimates by the Center, the annual inflow of unauthorized immigrants to the United States was nearly two-thirds smaller in the March 2007 to March 2009 period than it had been from March 2000 to March 2005.

According to the estimates this sharp decline has contributed to an overall reduction of 8% in the number of unauthorized immigrants currently living in the U.S. from a peak of 12 million in March 2007 to 11.1 million in March 2009,

.
The Press office of the Home Land Security Administration quickly issued a press statement taking credit for the drop in the number of illegal immigrants stating their efforts at securing the border as the reason.  I am sure the killings of migrants crossing through Mexico from other Latin nations, as well as the citizens of Mexico themselves who are scarred to travel because of the drug lords had nothing to do with the drop in numbers.

One area not widely discussed is that the PEW Center also reported the unemployment rate for illegal immigrants in the United States is estimated to be 10%, compared to the national average of 9.7 percent for unemployed ‘legal' workers.  This is what got my attention: 1.1 million illegal immigrants are out of work here in America, this does not concern me as they do not belong here anyway, what does concern me is there are still 10 million illegal immigrants here who have jobs.

According to recent United States Unemployment data. America's unemployment rate is at 9.7 percent, this equates to some 15.1 million Americans and legal residents who are out of work today and could probably fill a majority of the 10 million jobs currently held by illegal immigrants. Of course this would mean that Secretary Janet Napolitano, of the Home Land Security, would be obligated to enforce our laws by securing the borders and deporting the illegal immigrants currently residing here, both of which I doubt will happen during my lifetime

With so many illegals out of work, one can only imagine that many will take to committing crimes so to feed themselves and their families, and the same can be said for our own unemployed too. And with the latest unemployment stats, it appears that Obama's Hope and Change is not what it cracks up to be. How many of you liberals are now embarrassed by voting for Obama? What was the unemployment rate when Bush left office 4.8%

First of all, how the heck did they find out the unemployment rate of these illegal immigrants? Aren't they "undocumented" and invisible to law enforcement agencies? If they have a way to find out the unemployment rate of these individuals, they must have a way to get them apprehended and deported to wherever they came from. In doing so, Americans are not deprived of having jobs that are being taken by "undocumented aliens". I'm pretty sure this will help bring down the unemplyment rate significantly...

Response to Scott, the unemployment rate was a whopping 5.2 percent when bush left office, could have been better if the democrats were not in charge of Congress his last two years of office.
