This is just a little taste of the advertising onslaught that Microsoft is about to stuff down our throats in regards to their upcoming software, Windows Phone 7. In other words, get used to seeing videos like the one below.

Microsoft has posted its very first Windows Phone 7 ad, a one-minute clip that mirrors the famous scene from Lawrence of Arabia.

Haven't seen the movie?

Do so.

At the very end, they make sure to let us know that the revolution, of course by revolution the mean smartphone software, is coming. No release date is given which is a big, fat bummer. However, signs point to a release sometime around September 28th, give or take a little bit, and the fact that they have started the ad campaign makes that date look legitimate.

I'd say sometime in early October.

So, watch the video and get accustomed to it because Microsoft is expected to spend $500 million on its advertising campaign. That's no small amount and it probably means that we will be seeing these sorts of ads all over the place very soon.

I'm not excited about that but I will admit, I am excited about Windows Phone 7. I'd love to see it become a legitimate competitor to Apple and Google.

Enjoy.

Microsoft is about to pump $500 million into this for absolutely nothing. iOS and Android and hey, even webOS are going to make sure of that.
