Denver has many wonderful things to do this Easter holiday, including Easter egg hunts and visits from the Easter bunny. Here is my list of fun things to do on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, and the entire Easter weekend. Click on high-lighted words for web sites.
- Easter Brunch at Duo Restaurant, in Denver, is my number one choice. Get your reservations in quick, it is a popular spot.
- The children's museum, in Denver is hosting a special Easter event on Saturday from 10-5. The children can dye Easter eggs, take home an Easter goodie bag, pet the live animals, create Easter baskets, watch the theater performance, plant spring seeds (to take home and grow,) and participate in story time with the Easter Bunny.
- Brunch at Elways, in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver, from 11 am to 2 pm. They have some fabulous Easter specials but make reservations right away.
- Take the whole family to Winter Park, for the weekend, (approximately 90 miles west of Denver.) They have free Easter egg hunts for kids under 5, and bunny slope ski races for the older kids, with ribbons. The entire weekend has planned events including live music, free shwag, free bump tips at the top of prospector lift, free face painting for the kids, a visit from the Easter bunny himself, and a caricature artist. So much fun planned for the whole family.
- Treat your love bunny to brunch at Denver's Oceanaire Seafood Room. They have prepared many fabulous seafood specials for Easter weekend. On Sunday they are open from 11 am to 8 pm. They do seven different variations on eggs Benedict, but I would suggest the gold miners favorite, the "hang town fry." Trust me you're in for a special treat!
- Copper Mountain Ski Resort, (approximately 75 miles west of Denver,) has the largest Easter egg hunt in Colorado with 50,000 eggs to find. If you find a copper egg you can redeem it for a great prize!
- Go to the sunrise services at Red Rocks Amphitheater, (approximately 15 miles west of Denver.) The park opens, free to the public, at 4:30 am and services start at 6:30 am. Dress warmly. This service is a beautiful, long held Denver tradition.
- Enter a drawing contest and hunt for colorful eggs at Boulder's 31st annual Easter celebration. Bring your own basket and collect eggs with special prizes inside. A fun adventure for kids under aged 10 and their families.
- Buy a hand made Easter basket at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in downtown Denver. Watch them make Carmel apples and fudge right there in the shop, and then pick and choose which items you would like in your Easter basket. They are closed on Easter Sunday so get there early to get your family a very special Easter basket.
- Watch Stephen Stills, (the guitarist from Crosby, Stills and Nash,) in concert at the Ogden theater, in the heart of Denver, Easter evening at 8 pm. Tickets range in price from $59. to $128. Get your tickets before they sell out.
- Watch the Colorado Rockies play the Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field, in downtown Denver. Route for the home team on Saturday or Easter Sunday.
Enjoy your Easter weekend. If you liked this list you may want to check out my list of Denver's free fun spots, or Denver's best inexpensive restaurants downtown.
