Adam Richman, who entertained New York State Fair visitors last Saturday on the Chevy Court stage, spotlighted Syracuse in tonight's episode of his Travel Channel series, Man v. Food: Syracuse. Richman showed viewers the secrets behind a Dinosaur Bar B Que pork-sket sandwich, Heid's hot dogs and coneys, and the six pound frittata challenge at Mother's Cupboard on James Street.

The action for Richman's Syracuse episode was filmed during his May, 2010 visit to Syracuse, when he also toured the Salt Museum at Onondaga Lake Park. First, Richman outlined Dinosaur's smoking process and the making of a pork-sket sandwich: beef brisket, pulled pork, sharp New York cheddar, pickled jalapeno relish and Dinosaur's famous coleslaw. Dinosaur sells the pork-sket for $12.95 (sandwich) or $15.95 (platter with two sides.) Then he moved down Onondaga parkway to Heid's, where he shared a table with SU basketball coach Jim Boeheim and consumed a mixed double (one red hot frank, one white hot coney in a single New-England style hot dog roll, $4.25).

While in Liverpool, Richman filmed a piece about the Salt Museum which appears on the Travel Channel website. Next, he joined some SU lacrosse all-stars for a little three-on-three to work up his appetite. Finally, Richman made his way back to the intersection of James St. and Thompson Rd. in Eastwood on the edge of Syracuse. Once there, he shined TV lights into Mother's Cupboard, a local joint famous for breakfasts that include outrageously sized pancakes and a frittata Richman called “a UFO sighting.” Slides from Richman's Syracuse visit appear on the Man v. Food website.

The Mother's Cupboard 6lb. frittata contains pepperoni, broccoli, Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, a full pound of home fried potatoes, four eggs (which serve to bind all the other ingredients together), and four buttered and toasted ends of Italian bread. Richman's frittata was served so hot that he needed to divide and conquer, placing about a pound of the monster breakfast dish into a separate bowl to cool it off to a more mouth-friendly temperature. Richman was also reminded, as he approached the last sixth of the frittata, that the competition was being held under “Mother's Rules”: 1) sit up straight, 2) no elbows on the table, and 3) clean your plate.

Cheered on by a full house of fans and the restaurant staff, Richman managed to finish his 6lb. Mother's Cupboard frittata challenge, potatoes and Italian bread ends and all.

I can't believe he finished that monster frittata! Just watching him eat it was making me feel nauseous...

Yeah - and have you ever seen Mother's Cupboard's "short stack of pancakes" - two dinner-plate sized pancakes each at least a half-inch thick. I have a co-worker who used to eat them before our shift on the weekend. I'd need a nap. ;)

I think Adam had better leave the food alone for awhile. He is getting fatter not to mention what he is doing to his arteries..He is gonna be very ill before long, I am sure he knowa that though
