On Saturday, January 22 from 1-4 p.m., NJ 101.5’s daytime host and well-known food enthusiast, Dennis Malloy, will demonstrate a a delicious array of snacks at Mrs. G’s Miele kitchen in her Lawrenceville store. Dennis Malloy is the co-host of the Dennis and Michele Show on Monday through Friday from 10-2 p.m.
The event is open to the first 100 people who sign up on the 101.5 website. 15 lucky audience members will be randomly chosen to taste Dennis’s creations, which are perfect for halftime noshing. At this writing, his menu will include Sausage Stromboli, Cheesesteak Roll-Ups, a Potato Volcano and Quesadillas. The rest of the crowd will sample food provided by the Pennington Market.
Dennis is an experienced and enthusiastic cook. He used to watch his mom in the kitchen and ever since he left home at age 19 or 20, Dennis has cooked for himself. Nowadays, he loves cooking for his family. A recent meal of his included dishes for several different food tastes – a beef chili was served alongside Mexican chicken and rice with grilled vegetables.
In addition to the dishes above, Dennis loves to make pizza and ravioli. You can find him making pizza on YouTube. One version Dennis likes is with San Marzano tomatoes. He covers his homemade pizza dough with a mixture of mozzarella, asiago and provolone cheeses. (The cheese goes on first to prevent the crust from becoming soggy and the cheese from burning.) Then he crushes the San Marzano tomatoes in his hands and adds them on top of the cheese with a bit of olive oil and basil. Dennis bakes his pizza in a 425°F. oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
Incidentally, one of Dennis’s favorite local pizza places is Palermo’s III in Ewing. He likes their Summer Pizza with fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, and olive oil.
Dennis will be signing autographs and talking pictures with fans after the demonstration.
