Frank Muytjens and Jenna Lyons presented the J. Crew Mens Fall 2011 collection at Industria studio. The nineteen look collection was inspired by "authentic work wear fabrication..taking this concept, and making it modern, by putting it into leaner, more modern, dressier ilhouettes" according to Mr. Muytjens, VP of Mens Design for J. Crew. For example, one look was created by combining a sturdy causal corduroy pant with a tuxedo jacket, along with a shirt and striped neck-tie.
Another such look that caught my eye, was a Harris Tweed jacket over a red hooded sweat shirt and denim jeans. It's the type of look that can be worn during the day if you're shopping, or at night if you're partying with friends. Mr. Muytjens mentioned extra attention was paid to small details such as extended tabs on pants, wider belt loops, and some fabrics being kept unwashed for a pure, crisp look.
Layering was used to nice effects. Complimentary colors, and patterns among sweaters, scarves, and chinos were merged just right. Two such cool looks were a blue scarf, purple shirt, and grey pants; and a brown sweater, over a green shirt, blue scarf, and greyish pants. A navy blue trench coat, with detachable hood was another highlight from the collection.
The entire collection can be viewed at: J. Crew Mens Fall 2011.
