Top 3 spring/summer 2011 fashion trends: bringing back Bianca Jagger's 70s glam

Step out of the skinny jeans and gear up for what promises to be an retro ride on the hippie-chic, boho-chic, colorful fashion bandwagon.  The 70s are back.

2011 fashion is all about bold, vibrant colors, slouchy belts and bags, and sexy, exotic jewelry.

In two words: statement pieces.

Throw in high waist flare trousers, jumpsuits and flowy maxi dresses and you have a recipe for this year's boho/hippie-chic with a modern twist look.

Look to the recent Spring/Summer runways for inspiration on how to mix and match bold, vibrant hues and go from day to night without looking like a fashionista stuck in a time machine.  With this style era, think Bianca Jagger's wardrobe and not grandma's closet.

How does one translate the spring/summer 2011 runway trends into real life?

Find key pieces and mix and match for an updated, sophisticated look.

High-waisted pants:

For business wear, pair high-waisted flare pants with a breezy blouse (preferably tucked in) and blazer.  For play, remove the blazer and add a low-slung leather belt for a more relaxed look.

Jumpsuits:

Pair a jumpsuit with a bold colorful scarf, cropped jacket and bold, statment jewelry pieces.  Silk jumpsuits are preferable for instant glam.  Experiment with a varitey of colors, but if trusted black is the color preference, then punch up the look with some colorful accessories for day, and metallic accessories for a glamorous night out.  For instant day to night transition, try metallic jumpsuits with a hint of shimmer.

Tunics and Maxi dresses:

Stay comfortable and stylish with flowy tunics and maxi dresses.  Dress down with flats, slounchy belt and coloful bohemian jewelry.  Solid colors are fine, but soft floral prints are a great touch for tunics, flowy blouses and maxi dresses.  For the instant glam look, try long, slinky maxis with embelishments or metallic hues and accents.  Easily dress up maxi dresses and tunics with heels (platforms work too) and statement accessories.

Accessories:

Shy away from minimalism when it comes to accessories.  2011 is the year of bold, exotic, chunky and colorful accessories.  Pair gold accessories with bright red, orange or black.  Metallics are great for day to night looks and floral bracelets or earrings put the chic in spring.

Colors:

This spring and summer, think bold and sexy color hues like mustard yellow, regal purple and sapphire blue.

Relaxed, bold and colorful, comfortable, boho-chic and modern classic are the key words for this year's 70s glam look.
