A Douglas County, Georgia woman was going for her morning walk unaware that someone had rented a home in the neighborhood with three pit bulls; which ferociously attacked her this morning. Neighbors used rocks, sticks, and weights - anything to throw at the dogs to make them release the hold the dogs had on her.
One witness said the dogs were so intent on their prey that they did not even realize things were being thrown at them. Watch the video below to see how tenacious they are when they get hold of something or someone.
The woman, Frankie Forsh, wife of Douglas High School athletic coach was severely wounded by these dogs. Douglas County is near Atlanta, Georgia.

A nurse, who is retired, went to Mrs. Forsh's aid and attended her until the paramedics arrived. One of the dogs was captured; while the other two are still on the loose. The animal control officials say they have set traps for them. The report is that her wounds are severe.
The photo above shows the massive strength of these dogs in their bodies - video below shows their sheer strength in their teeth and jaws; and the links take you to gruesome photos of the damage done to children by pit bulls. . If you own this type of dog, you should look at these and see what they can do to people.
Fining the owners of such animals( and putting down the dogs) does not restore those wounded, maimed, and even killed.. Perhaps that is why we have to have so many laws because people will not do what is morally right. Perhaps it is time to outlaw these dogs in any place where there are people and especially in homes where there are small children. These dogs go insane and especially at the sight of blood.
How can families protect themselves from such predators?
The story came to me recently when a couple returned home from vacation, they found their pit bull had pulled a heavy sofa out into the middle of the floor and had torn both sides off the sofa. A person designated to feed, water, and let the dog out discovered the unbelievable damage this one dog had done.
Some of you may remember here in Atlanta a few years ago when an ambulance was called to a home where someone was suspected of having a heart attack; and the pit bull would not let them out of the ambulance.
They began to drive slowly back out of the driveway, and the dog clamped those powerful teeth into the tire and went round and round with the wheel.
It seems when they lock on to something, they will not turn loose and this time it was this poor unsuspecting walker. Why would anyone want to take on such liability and chance that the dog would turn on them? And they do. Many times people keep these dogs at their homes because they are hiding something.

It was reported last week that in Iran all such animals are being rounded up and killed. Do they care more about their citizens than Americans?
Personally, I don't buy the idea that there are no bad dogs - just bad handlers and other factors - you would not leave a loaded gun on a table in the house with a small child - why would you allow them to be around a vicious dog? Both are a crime. It doesn't matter what causes these dogs to attack. They should not be allowed around children or loose in any neighborhood.

UPDATE: All three dogs have been captured. Owners were out of town - they had left a careless caregiver in charge of them - who apparently let them out. Mrs. Forsh underwent surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. It is reported that she will be disfigured from this attack. Our prayers are with her for a quick recovery with no complications. It was reported that the dogs will more than likely be put down.
Who is responsible? The dogs, the owners, the careless caregiver, or the innocent lady who just happened to walk by that house at the wrong time?
Some things you should know from just plain old common sense. In this case, people should know that a dog bred to be vicious can attack at anytime and will; and having such animals around children is just not wise.
But some people in life just get stuck on "stupid." How many more people must endure what this lady did; and how many families must bury a loved one attacked by vicious dogs of any breed before people get wise enough to do the right thing? It makes me shudder what might lie down the road for the owners of dogs they know can be dangerous. What will it take to open their eyes? It makes me shudder even more that unsuspecting innocent people will continue to be attacked.

Ban the owners.
This is not a moral issue, it is a responsibility issue.
You don't ban men because some rape and kill women, yet all rapists are men.
You don't ban cars because some irresponsible or criminal person mows down a group of innocent people on the sidewalk.
Pit Bulls that attack account for less than 1% of the Pit Bull population in America. Why should we ban millions of innocent dogs because of a few irresponsible and criminal owners?
Why not legislate the type and character of person that can own ANY large, strong type of dog?
I have owned and fostered more than 25 pit bulls in the last 17 to 18 years and none have attacked any animals or people.
Millions of Pit Bulls have lived their entire lives without hurting anyone or anything.
Focus on the root cause of this problem: Irresponsible and criminal people.
Remember that Bloodhounds, German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers and other breeds were once deemed dangerous? Why? Because the owners.

thank you for this. this article made me sick because of the hatred for the dogs in this. i have a small dog (10 lbs) who has killed another dog. it is a silky terrier. shoudl be bann those as well. i have had pit bulls in my life and not one has ever bit anything.

One animal killing another is not a good thing to see; but we are talking about animals killing innocent people. Did it make you sick to see where a pit killed a four day old baby?
It is the pit bulls that do the attacking, chewing, and maiming and killing,no matter the owner. These dogs were bred over and over to be vicious and to attack.I have a little four year old grandson spending the night with me tonight with a bite under his left eye from a pit bull just days ago,and then I read this story tonight,sorry I don't by the innocent dog theory.I also know of a young man who is now grown who got cut when he fell down and a dog attacked him and bit him in the face.They always seem to go for the face and head. This is the same old story in reverse it is not the gun that kills but the one holding the gun. But who leaves a loaded gun down in front of children - and who leaves a vicious dog around children? Humans are killers too. Maybe we should ban some humans that rape, mame and kill people. Instead we put them in prison and pay for them to be there for their whole life. I have a pitbull and she is the best dog I have owned. My neighbors child was attacked and scared for life by a golden retriever. The dog went crazy on the child. My other neighbor who ran to the childs rescue also got numerous stitches from this VICIOUS killer beast of a dog. I feel that this dog should have been euthanized but because it was a Golden Retriever they said the child must have done something to hurt the dog. NO the child didn't. This same child crawls all over my pitbull, pulls on her ears, takes food from her mouth and runs and plays in the yard with her. My pitbull has never even growled in at this child. She wags her tail and kisses the child and wants to play some more. Another child in out neighborhood received stitches from the bite of a beagle. The dog bit the child in the face missing the eye by less than a 1/4 of an inch. The beagle was not euthanized either. IF that would have been a pitbull in either case it would have been euthanized.

ANY breed of dog has the ability and possibility to attack. I am tired of hearing stories of pit Bull attacks and finding out later that the dogs weren't pits at all. People are so quick to assume. I don't know that the dogs in this situation aren't pits but, honestly, the type of dog really doesn't matter. What matters is that the owners weren't responsible and didn't have them chained up or behind a fence or in the house. The owners are at fault.
Let's remember: 1) not ALL dogs that attack are Pit Bulls. 2) When we hear of a story where a Pit Bull has attacked, ask "What provoked it?" (No. Not ever attack is provoked but the one where a boy was throwing stones at the dogs and then didn't understand why they bit him... yeah.) and 3) every dog owner has to take responsibility for their dog and keep other people safe, regardless of whether or not they believe their dog is capable of harming someone. That's just common sense.

The WSB-TV said these were pit bulls - the one that bit my grandson I know was a pit bull because I know the owners and I have seen it with my own eyes. You people remind me of the poor little mother standing before the judge saying; but your honor before he became a serial killer, he was such a good little boy. However,on her fence was a sign that said "Beware of Dog." When her son went out to help her, they attacked him as well ;these dogs can leap like a bob cat and they go for the throat.Her sweet kind dogs killed her and maimed her son. In some ways they remind me of a mountain lion mixed with something. I am going to work on another article with some research to see just how many people they attack each year by state. All dogs can bite; but not attack and kill. Some animals are just not meant to live with humans. The interbreeing by man is the cause.

In choosing a dog why would anyone want the liability and chance that a dangerous dog breed would harm someone else no matter the precautions? It is a mystery to me why a person has to get trained in order for the dog to have dominion over them. In the beginning, God created the animal and plant kingdom for man; for him to have dominion over them; but in the last days it says they will have dominion over man. People have gone insane over animals and spend billions of dollars each year while children go hungry. And all the drugs that craze people come from the plant kingdom in some form. Once we had a large dog that stole things from people's yard by jumping our fence. He just grew too big for it and we took him to the country and gave him to a man with a lot of farm land. We honored our neighbors more than that. To us he was just a dog – but people drowned in Katrina because they would not leave their dogs behind? Bottom line - pit bulls kill innocent people and many children as well as maim them no matter how you try to glorify them. They are killers and the breeding of them should stop. Who with a conscience would "think of the children" when it comes to pit bulls, yet ignore the vast MAJORITY of children, who are scarred for life or mauled to death by other types of dogs?

Dear Miss Pat, Thank yo for your article about pit bulls. I was thinkin to intimidate people and be top of my hood and since I couldnt get a gun and flash it witout pigs come running, I decided get a dog. It was easy to decide get a pit bull cause everyone is scared of them.

Well I was real disappointed at first cause my pit bull turned out real normal. Even after I beat him a lot.

Hello. Like Thug, I also wanted to say thank you for this article. The demand for my dogs has skyrocketed recently. I attribute it to constant media coverage like this. The more people hear about how vicious and unstoppable these dogs are, the more sales I make. You and I may know the difference between image and reality, but it doesn't matter to the general populace. The more monstrous you make these dogs seem, the better it is for my business. Some people really want the nastiest dog they can buy. Sure, we all know you have to work pretty hard to make a dog vicious. That's why dog fighters like me beat and starve our dogs, keep them on chains, and of course, teach them to fight. Pat, pits are not a rare breed. I guess you've never walked the rows of any municipal animal shelter. Somewhere between 20-60% of dogs in shelters are pit bulls. I've volunteered at several shelters for most of my life. I've seen hundreds of "pit bulls" come and go. "Pit bull" isn't a breed, it's a social phenomenon. In your mind, "pit bull" is a vicious killer. In reality, "pit bull" is pretty much any short-haired dog. It's synonymous with "mutt." Pit bulls make up the vast majority of our shorthaired dog population. Keep on writing about how vicious and evil they are. You'll be responsible for all these innocent dogs' deaths. And if you're happy about that... that's sick.
I am a Police officer in upstate NY we get more bite reports from other dog breeds than the so called dangerous dog breeds. The media just reports the Pitbull attacks. We just had a standard poodle attack a woman and she received 45 stitches.
Have you ever met a APBT, SBT or AST? BTW, those are all "pit bulls" according to you. When in reality they are 3 different breeds.
Evidently you haven't read how breed bans DO NOTHING. The one in UK, which has banned "pit bulls" and other "dangerous breeds" is one that has been in place for quite some time. Guess what? Even with all those "dangerous breeds" put to sleep or just put in a shelter, dog bites and attacks have INCREASED. It has done nothing for the stupid owners who take advantage of these dogs.

I've had my pit mix for 10 years and he's been a terrific dog. He is completely trustworthy around my infant daughter and constantly gives her kisses. This writer's attitude is just another form of harmful stereotyping and racial profiling...blaming an entire group because a few in that group did something wrong. Very ignorant. Of course this is an emotional issue, however, the facts have shown breed bans are not the answer. For example, the UK is now considering overturning its ban because not only has it NOT prevented dog bites, it has cost the government millions of dollars it can't afford just to put down beloved family pets who haven't harmed anyone. They now realize that they need to focus on owner education and bite prevention. Let's learn from their experience and do the same...owner education, not a mass ban.

This is the most biased, horrendously inaccurate "article" I've seen in a long time. While we are banning dogs (which only serves to hurt RESPONSIBLE owners & their dogs who have done no harm), can we please ban STUPID, IRRESPONSIBLE 'people' from writing things like this? They need to crawl back under the rock they came out from. ALL dogs have the capacity to harm--just as people do. It's all in how they are raised their specific parental genetics. MOST pitbulls are the sweetest, most loving and loyal dogs there are...and not, I don't currently have a pitbull because I already have enough dogs to take care of--but I love the breed and know LOTS and LOTS of people who have them in their lives and have had them for a long time with NO PROBLEMS.

Since other dogs kill - it is okay for pits to join in and when there are several of them - they usually do. I could list time after time after time where pit dogs have killed and mained; but you could just Google Pit Bulls and the first thing that comes up are article after article - relating to the vicious attacks of these dogs and the INNOCENT people they have killed. You know you guys remind me of those who defend child molesters and serial killers and rapist. Did you even bother to look at the photos of the child who had his scalp torn off? There are many writers who have writen about this so I am not alone. You guys attack me just like your dogs attack other people. Hmmm You don't know anything about me; but I know about vicious animals. Since you name other killer dogs let's ban them all around children, huh? Jessie James didn't make Charles Manson look any better.
Not saying it's okay, but we're saying IT'S NOT OKAY that you ADMITT other breeds kill, YET YOU IGNORE IT AND WON'T WRITE ABOUT IT. You only talk about pit bulls.
If you were FAIR and wrote about other breed attacks no one would say a word, but this is what you want, you want all this publicity. All I know is if I saw a Lab attacking you, I'd let that dog MAUL you and laugh and say, "Well guess you should have wrote about other breeds attacking humans" OH THE IRONY THAT WOULD BE HAHAHHAHAHHA.

Everyone: please calm down. Pit bulls and other terriers can be quite tenacious. But positive, consistent training is the key to an obedient, polite dog. The Chow Chow breed of dog is known to be aloof and nippy toward children, however, well-respected dog trainers say that the key is good training very early. Even adult dogs of all breeds have a chance at living a good life as wonderful companions if properly trained.
Pit bulls are often trained to be vicious. They are not born saying "I'm going to scalp a child someday."

Alice What could be more important to a writer about family than to warn them about these dogs in light of so many childen being injured.My 4 year old grandson is at my house right now with a bite under his left eye from a pit bull not another kind of dog but a pit bull.It could have taken his eye out.I asked him what did he do to make the dog bite him and he said,"I wooked at his face." He didn't touch it.

Pat I have a huge scar on my leg from a Basset Hound. I don't write unresearched articles maligning the breed though. Where did you find that photo or photoshopped photo of that mutant pit? I have 5 of them and not one looks anything like that. Of course I guess that photo fit your agenda didn't it?
I just hope and pray that none of your dogs turn on you or any member of your family. It bothers me how you in so many ways admit how vicious they are; signs on the fence, chains, have to train it out of them. And the way some of you attacked me. I am just the messenger not the cause. Since yesterday I have been waiting to hear from this lady if she is out of surgery. I wouldn't own a water pistol if I thought it would harm someone else. We have had several cases this year of rabid foxes attacking people in our area.I didn't get a single comment in favor of the foxes. The attacks were the same.
