The Vatican has just completed a five day conference astrobiology where scientists convened to discuss the detection and implications of extraterrestrial life. A major driving force behind the conference was the Director of the Vatican Observatory, the Jesuit priest Father Jose Gabriel Funes. In May 2008, Funes gave an interview to the Vatican’s L’Osservatore Romano newspaper saying that the existence of intelligent extraterrestrials posed no problems to Catholic theology. The conference itself was officially convened by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences, chaired by its religious leader Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, and was held on private Vatican grounds from November 6-10. Together with Funes’ 2008 interview and subsequent public comments by him, the conference demonstrates a welcome openness by the Vatican on the possibility and implications of extraterrestrial life. The Vatican’s openness to discussion of extraterrestrial life is no accident. It is part of an openness policy secretly adopted by the United Nations in February 2008. In fact, the Vatican is playing a leading role in preparing the world for extraterrestrial disclosure.
For most observers, the conference was an innovative scientific gathering sanctioned by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences to show the Holy See’s support for modern science in the detection of extraterrestrial life. The conference primarily focused on the detection of primitive extraterrestrial life forms, and featured presentations from nearly 30 international experts in astronomy, physics and biology. Marc Kaufman from the Washington Post reports:
Scientists (many of them nonbelievers) are offering presentations on subjects as varied as how life might have begun on Earth; what newly found "extremophile" microbes living in harsh places on our planet might tell us about possible life on others; and how life forms might be detected in our solar system, or how their bio-signatures might be found on and around the many distant exoplanets.
Discussion of the implications of intelligent extraterrestrial life, both scientific and theological, did not appear prominently in the conference agenda. One of the presenters, however, Prof Paul Davies commented on the religious implications of discovering intelligent extraterrestrial life: "If you look back at the history of Christian debate on this, it divides into two camps. There are those that believe that it is human destiny to bring salvation to the aliens, and those who believe in multiple incarnations," Davies pointed out that the multiple incarnations theory, the idea that multiple examples of Jesus Christ would be found in the universe “is a heresy in Catholicism."
The Vatican, through Funes, is supporting the idea that the incarnation of Christ is a unique event in Earth’s history tied in to humanity’s ‘fall’ and ‘original sin’. This idea was a major focus in Father Funes’ May 2008 interview which was titled "The extraterrestrial is my brother." Funes said that intelligent extraterrestrial life may not have experienced a ‘fall’, and may be “free from Original Sin … [remaining] in full friendship with their creator.” This makes it possible to regard them as ‘our brothers’ as Funes explained:
Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom… "Why can't we speak of a 'brother extraterrestrial'? It would still be part of creation…
Most importantly, Funes’ statement makes possible the idea that Christianity can be exported to extraterrestrial worlds that have not experienced a ‘fall’ and are free from original sin.
The Vatican’s new openness on extraterrestrial life is consistent with reports of secret discussions held at the United Nations that began in February 2008. The Vatican’s permanent representative to the UN, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, was reported to have attended along with a number of other prominent government officials to discuss increased UFO sightings and the implications of extraterrestrial visitation. Significantly, Migliore's position requires that he maintains close relations with the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences. At the time of the secret UN discussions, Migliore made a presentation on moral issues associated with scientific problems such as climate change. Most importantly, the UN discussions reportedly led to a new policy of openness being adopted by approximately 30 nations that would begin in 2009.
Another noteworthy participant reported to have attended the 2008 UN discussions was Britain’s Permanent representative at the time, Sir John Sawers. Sawers was later appointed to head Britain’s prestigious foreign intelligence service MI6. The appointment of a diplomat to head an intelligence service was highly unusual. According to a BBC report: “giving the job to someone more recently associated with diplomatic service was regarded as a break from the tradition.” Seen in the context of the February UN meetings, perhaps MI6 was acknowledging the need for greater diplomacy in dealing with problems posed by a new openness policy on UFOs, and eventual disclosure of extraterrestrial life.
The Vatican sponsored astrobiology conference was a landmark event. It showed that the Vatican was willing to officially sanction public discussions on the existence of extraterrestrial life. More significantly, it showed that the Vatican was willing to initiate a comprehensive dialogue on the theological implications of the discovery of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The Vatican’s astrobiology conference is yet one more sign that major global institutions are preparing for some kind of formal disclosure concerning UFOs and/or extraterrestrial life. This is a direct outcome of a series of landmark meetings at the UN beginning in February 2008 that led to the adoption of a new openness policy.
After more than a year of openness, the Vatican is taking the openness policy to a new level, and preparing the public for some kind of formal extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. Numerous independent sources have predicted such disclosure is imminent, and that the Obama administration is expected to play a prominent role. The Vatican is also positioning itself to play a major role in such an announcement and in a post-disclosure world. Its emerging theological position that extraterrestrials “are our brothers” is a welcome departure from more hostile depictions of extraterrestrial life found in some religious denominations and in Hollywood movies. On the other hand, the idea that the Vatican could justify sending missionaries to convert extraterrestrials born without original sin, does raise major concerns. The Vatican, nevertheless, is currently playing a constructive role in preparing the public for the imminent disclosure of extraterrestrial life.
[Event Notice: Dr Michael Salla will speak about the theological implications of extraterrestrial life at the upcoming Earth Transformation Conference on the Big Island of Hawaii (January 7-12, 2010).]

@ Michael Salla:
I hate to tell you, but you have an annoying tendency to raise your beliefs into facts and connect things, that have nothing to do with each other. Let's start with the simple things: 2009 was officially declared as the 'International Year of Astronomy. [www.astronomy2009.org]. That means, every nation [Vatican included] is committed to extraordinary efforts in this field. The Vatican maintains an astronomical faculty for a couple of decades, and emphasize they don't see any conflict between science and theology. Since exobiology is a scientific field, Father Funes simply made clear, the Vatican's commitment to science does not exclude even delicate topics. Your claim, these statements had anything to do with a (further claimed) 'imminent disclosre' is simply wishful thinking - presented without any proof or fact. You create people-fooling circular references, when you try to back up newer claims by your own older (unproven) claims.
Shol'va, I call you troll! You are always the first to comment on these articles, and always in the same way. It is getting a little boring, no? Just as you accuse Salla of being, so you are yourself. Csn you understand, that your own understanding is quite limited? Peace.

Salla, I do love you. You are cool
@Cognitive Dissident:
The link between a hypothesis and a fact is termed proof. Presenting fiction as a fact is called entertainment in the best case and a lie when it is intended to deceive or fool people. For educated people such differences are important. Believers, cult-followers and mentally unstable people are certainly not interrested in facts; particularly in those, that have the potential to damage their belief-systems. Since Michael Salla exhibits a consistent pattern of presenting fiction as facts without an expressed intention to entertain, I've linked his sites to a profssional website-monitoring software, that alerts me, whenever a fresh piece of inaccurate writing appears. So I can react quickly. That's my perception of disclosure.
Well given the real implication of advanced ET life is we are their genetically engineered offspring and the virgin birth (or immaculate conception) was achieved though artificial insemination via an ET abduction scenario. I don't think they would even be entertaining the possibility of ET life if it wasn't a reality.
Although it doesn't interfere with a belief in an almighty God. It certainly fundamentally changes existing Catholic beliefs.
If Christ was an Alien Hybrid he might be a Space brother but certainly couldn't be considered The only begotten Son of God, but it also means we are all children of God.
The purpose a priesthood and a Church is as a means of intercession between God and humankind. It can only exist based on a notion of separation between man and God. If there is no separation there is no need for intercession and no need for a Catholic Church. That would be the ultimate outcome of full disclosure.
@Shol'va: Amen. People hopeful for a resolution to the UFO issue will be sadly disappointed yet again.
To Shol'va and Amanda,
Very good and thoughful posts. Although I am a believer in ETs, I feel the overiding concern for us now is the Various political agendas that seem to be converging in an attempt at wider government control and lessening personal freedoms.
Under that scenario the ET thing is basically irrelevant. They're either indifferent or have already left....so in other words Who Cares. Unless they are an active part of this Gobal Goverment takeover (a possibility) they are a distraction. It seems that Salla doesn't care to address the negative aspects of a move towards more Central control, or he is a tool of it. An unwitting tool or an active and engaged one I can't tell.
um...wow.
We have to go Deeper,This Government is truly following a script. I know it's hard to believe and if this is all true and Frankly I believe this to be true.Look at Walt Disney a 33 degree Freemason.
Ultimately we have been Mind Fracked by these Satanist. At least look at Vigilant Citizen and you will see the Picture. Freemantv has a great Vid on Britney Spears Mind control,Please take a look before they reveal who they really are

This disclosure will in essence, end the reign of the Catholic Church's
How will the Vatican fit "aliens" into the context of a universe that was created from nothing instantaneously? (Augustine).
Ok, so maybe Augustine was wrong, maybe it was just 6 days.
So God created the heavens and the earth, and populated the universe with aliens in 6 days?
The Vatican should know that Mormons beat them to the punch in the 1830s. John Smith claimed that the universe had countless numbers of worlds with aliens (people) on them.
God created the Heavens and universe as we know it in 6 days. He populated our planet on any given day. Are you saying he retired afterward and did not do anything with the rest of the worlds out there. Or that maybe after our complete failure in the garden of Eden he might of later decided to populate another planet of his making. He is God and can do as he pleases when he pleases and how he plaeses. We cannot fathom his desires or doings. I barely got out of bed today.
The problem I have with the idea disclosure is some form of conspiracy by an elite to set up some kind of authoritarian New World Order. Is whilst the idea we are all part of a much larger "Tree of Life" will have a tendency to draw the people of this planet together and make some cultural differences such as many present religious dogmas irrelevant. It also fosters the idea we are all aspects of God.
Obviously if you want to control people it's much easier to do that by fooling people into thinking they are separated from God and the church and/or the government IOW the powers that be control your eternal destiny.
It's much easier to get people to follow an Anti-Christ if you have a mechanism in place which denies their deity as aspects of God.
The reality of ET life and full disclosure will have a tendency to undermine centralised power structures which have been operating on this planet for thousands of years on the basis of a deception.
Boring drivel. We are not amused.
That Disclosure will undermine a tendency towards Centralized Power is not a fait accompli Amanda. One other poster mentioned The LDS church and their (already on the Books) claim about alien worlds.
You see if it is not the LDS it will be some other cult or New Age philosophical movement which will jockey for the new position which will be left open when The Catholic Church falls from supremacy.
And the political movement that is now pushing FOR One World Government will utilize that "religious power gap" to their advantage....either by fear or deception or "appealing to our better nature". They will be pushing the Earth to unify with them of course in power.
Quantum Physics is joyful,and more spiritual than religion and proves God and proves the universe is loving and only what we are free-willed to think we think the evil. For an easy to read understading of quantum physics read:The Dancing Wu-Li Masters" by Gary Zukav or The Tao of Physics' by F. Capra. Also, that there is only one and the same being in all of us- do the meditation from Eckhart Tolle's book:' The Power of Now. '
Thomas Troward's books, all of them, will change your life. And the the best teacher lives in your heart and the only tuition worth paying is Intuition. Listen to "yourself" or you'll be saying 'I should have listened to myself and regretting not doing it." Gut feeling, ESP, hunch- start to follow God within you like Jesus did. Like Buddha did.
In reply to Herman. I think there is a difference between the LDS believing in ETs and ETs being an accepted reality. The one requires faith the other one doesn't. Something which doesn't require faith doesn't require an organized religion.
That doesn't mean the end of spirituality, but is does mean spirituality will be more personal.
That said I would agree this development would place pressure on the elite to fill the power gap, but I don't go along with the idea disclosure is some form of NWO conspiracy, because it doesn't work in the best interests of centralized authoritarian power structures, although that may be the knee jerk reaction to it.
Of course apart from disclosure, Science itself through quantum physics and the discovery of extra-solar planets is already changing our view of who and what we are and of our place in the Universe. Disclosure and ET contact would be the icing on the cake. However we already live in a different World than we did even 10 years ago.
Shol'va has nailed it. Nothing the Vatican has said supports the interpretation of Dr. Salla.
Yes , its about to get real.
localized.
proof you can touch.
with rfid chips.
it will be fun!
Wow, this is quite intriguing. The Vatican going along with the idea of their being ET's? Who incidentally don't need to be saved? LMAO!!! The church is only relevant if you believe in hell and need the church to save you. This is one of the biggest illusions that has plagued the human race. The Devil Did It! What is the motive of them coming before the world and taking this stance? I really can't lend a lot of energy to it because there is always some seemingly important news flash that pulls the focus of the public in one direction or another. In the mean time, they are changing laws, rewriting history, and still never, ever fully disclosing anything. Then,they befuddle the minds of the public through the greatest form of mass distraction - Television & Movies. The way I see it is they created their god, created a book to go along with their god, and they write the future and then proceed to make it happen. It's all just a formula guys. Like supplying both sides of a war.
hey shol'va ur name says it all, traitor to his own kind
@rootstriker:
Nope. My screen-name says, I fight against false hopes, false beliefs and false gods - and against the greed with that our ever busy exo-ufoistic conspiracytainment industry entrap gullible people. And I use the deadliest weapon in this fight: Accurate information and logic.
First and foremost, if the Vatican is involved, you know there's something shady/evil about it. The thousands of years of cultural persecution, oppression, white washing of cultures and history, and genocide, won't be magically wiped clean from the slate if and when E.T's show up.
Even if E.Ts suddenly decide to interact on a public level, what difference would it make? It would be a novelty for about a year or two at best. After the curiosity dies down, people would fixate on the usual selfishness and materialism that binds them to the life of the common wage slave like usual. The only people who would be permitted to chat with them will be snooty bureaucrats, self-important scientists, and self-proclaimed religious leaders/gurus. They'd serve as go-betweens and filter what the public says, again, like usual.
While the idea of E.T disclosure is interesting, it's not going to have any change on humanity what so ever from my perspective.
@Shol'va
It is too easy to dismiss because there is no "hard proof". Don't you understand that exopolitics is not like objective science because the evidence exists but has been deliberately hidden and/or distorted by government. If you had read any one of Dr Salla's books, that is the first point he makes. Until disclosure occurs, we have to rely on whistleblowers, analysing public documents and ancient ET history, etc. At the least, let's be logical, can you at least admit that these actions of the Vatican are LOGICALLY CONSISTENT WITH (not proving) that they are preparing for disclosure or at least realising that ET exists and they will have to deal with it one day?
One irrelevant establishment announces a weasel-worded non-position on another irrelevant establishment. A "Friends" rerun episode has more news value
Moving on...
I this site real? Why is this stuff not on the news? I hope its real
the Vatican is part of the NWO...check it out yourself....expect project Blue Beam as well.... it is all part of the grand program of the NWO and Illuminati....
@Cognitive Dissident:
You've nailed it. Since the building of exo-ufoism is 100% based on the whishful thinkings i) ETs would visit us ii) these ETs were benevolent and wanted to enter with us into an open relationship iii) but are prevented from doing that by a huge shadow world government, iv) that further removes all tangible proofs about the ET-presence. I hate to tell you but that's pure fantasy. There is one simple biological proof: Non-interference into the life of lower lifeforms. Imagine, we would start to interfere into the lives of wild-living animals. We created all sorts of dependencies, disturbed the ecosystem and prevented their natural evolution. Humanity in it's wholeness is centuries away from becoming socios inter pares with (alleged) foreign intelligent species. Hence the whole exopolitics stuff is not far away from a cult like Scientology or The Raeliens. And the purpose is business. E.g. Salla sells you for a couple of grands his exoistic certificates.
Google Aliens fallen angels. I personally always had an open view regarding Alien Beings from some where out there. But if you think about it, there are movies out there that do sort of cover this topic. But the Anti-Christ will have to have a valid reason for the 'Disappearances'. I have other views as well, but certainly this is among them. If you look at Nesara International, you will see what I mean. It boils basically down to faith. Weather an individual believes in 'Life out there', Heaven, Hell, God, Jesus Christ, the Anti-Christ.. We cannot tell others what to think. But perhaps these 'Crazy' Conspiracy Theorists aren't so crazy after all? It's not for me to tell you to believe in God or else. I should like people to find their faith in God however. But, in the end it is your choice. But simply bashing one another isn't so very constructive is it? No one person is superior to another. Discussion is healthy and productive. Anger is however not so much.
God Bless,
MNoble
"MNobles said: "It boils basically down to faith. Weather an individual believes in 'Life out there', Heaven, Hell, God, Jesus Christ, the Anti-Christ.. We cannot tell others what to think."
No I don't think the existence of "life out there" is a matter of faith at all. Surely it's a matter of scientific evidence. And if "life out there" becomes a proven and accepted scientific fact it certainly won't be a matter of faith. In fact if will be a matter of telling people what to think, because it will be a matter for the education system.
Of course that is the problem when something is inconclusive people are relatively free to believe whatever they want. But when something becomes an accepted fact, believing something else becomes untenable. This is why the ET issue and disclosure is such a burning issue. Because if the proof already exists it will change our view of ourselves and our place in the Universe and some religious beliefs may not survive.
But until now, faith is what led people to believe or not. I personally have always thought the Universe was too big for just 'US'. In my mind that was very egotistical thinking. The Universe is a big place after all. It'd be wasteful really. So, when the big announcement comes, there are sightings en mass, people won't really to say they don't exist. The government has taken great pains to keep it hidden for so many years. I personally don't think that now everyone is opening up is a coincidence. I think there will be many many things happening starting in December. Keep a close watch on the news.
God Bless,
MNobles
MNobles said : "But until now, faith is what led people to believe or not."
Yes that is true to some extent. I suppose it would depend how closely people follow recent scientific developments. and put the evidence together for themselves. Most people probably don't. In fact one sometimes comes across skeptics who claim to be scientific in their approach, yet seem to have no awareness of actual science, and seem to have beliefs based on scientific knowledge which is now over 100 years out of date. So it's not just religions which may have problems. The idea there could be life everywhere and maybe the entire Universe is a living conscious entity which works with quantum physical laws is problem for atheists as well. Well proving God exists would not only render faith irrelevant it makes disbelief untenable as well lol :)
Personally I have witnessed two UFO sightings. A few of my family memebers and friends have also had their own personal experiences.
Then we also have regular reports from around South Africa, by average people, pilots, etc. Its just that over here we dont make a big deal out of it.
If we look at the bible it says, In the beginning God ceated the heaven's' and the earth. Note the plural. This would mean that God had created the earth, and then also the heavens and everything in it, including ET's.
The first question I would have for the ET's, if ever they did arrive on this earth would be, whether they came from God or not. Their answer would determine if I would engage them again.
Hence the whole exopolitics stuff is not far away from a cult like Scientology or The Raeliens. And the purpose is business. E.g. Salla sells you for a couple of grands his exoistic certificates.
you're exactly right on this point
@Shol'va
I did not say any of the things you are dismissing as fantasy (apart from the government secrecy point). First question, why do you attack a straw man rather than just respond to the specific question asked? Second question, let's look at (US) government secrecy. Are you aware that this is official policy as per the 1952 Robertson Panel? And can you deny that eg the Blue Book report ignored the best evidence and hence is evidence of government hiding the evidence? I will respond to your other points when you answer these two questions (BTW I think you make a valid point about the danger of humanity being able to expand throughout the universe but that is tangential to the points above).
The UFO debunkers or UFO skeptics better watch out; they are going to be the ones ridiculed soon.
The truth is inconvenient to those who can't handle the truth.
As I seen one user on youtube commented,UFO debunkers going to be label as traitors to all humanity for there 62 years of debunking.
I believe that also.
If the Shadow Government don't get cold feet, we may be on the dawn of a new era of a new galactic civilization, by civilization I mean us, Earthlings is about to become a interstellar civilization.
With all the popularity of president Barack Obama around the world he might become a world president after ET Disclosure, a fear the Neo-con scum will surely dread.
@Sentinel
Agree with you about the truth, but don't you agree we
need a truth amnesty to make the whole disclosure
process more likely to happen in the first place?
Otherwise PTB are going to fight even harder to hide the truth!

Just a heads up. Obama is a part of the NEO-CON scum you mention. Neo-con's are effectively stealth Liberals with a radical Socialist agenda. Obama is just a continuation of Bush (Both with same handlers). He was "selected" to give the impression of a wide open tent...a representative of the larger "world" community; and thus as the perfect spokesman for a world Government ruled by a Black American Pres. It's ALL for show....in order to get the NWO "show" on the road.
@N1Knows (nothing),
As if being an academic means one has the truth. You probably believe that about The MainStream Media and the Government too right? Well my little fearful genius; Academics for years said FM radio was impossible, The MSM pushed Dan Rathers' phoney airnational guard papers and the Government secretly did nuclear experiments on soldiers and prisoners. There are COUNTLESS other examples of "official" truth and those in power hiding and/or lieing about it.
Glad I could help.
We're getting close to the Disclosure deadline. I can't wait for you to eat your words, Salla. Maybe you'll even step down in shame after.
