The first speaker, local rancher Edmund Gomez, explained how the Dulce mystery began in June 1976 with the discovery of cattle mutilations on his ranch. Evidence was gathered pointing to military involvement in some kind of biological testing program that was highly classified. Gomez explained how physical evidence he gathered would regularly dissappear, and that his family had to eventually sell his ranch due to cattle losses. While Gomez believed that claims of extraterrestrials and UFOs related to Archuletta Mesa was disinformation, he did find evidence of classified military activities and an air vent to an underground facility during a 1988 expedition. His discovery and photo of the vent was the first concrete evidence that an underground base does exist at Dulce.
The next speaker, Chris O’Brian was skeptical of the Dulce undergound base hypothesis. He believed that claims of an undergound base at Dulce were a distraction from anomalous events at the nearby St Luis Valley which were more significant in his opinion. The retired Dulce Director of Public Safety, Hoyt Velarde said he had never found evidence of an underground facility at Dulce, but did confirm that UFOs were seen over the town of
Greg Bishop next spoke and explained his research on Paul Bennewitz, a deceased (2003) electronics expert who was the first to claim that an extraterrestrial undergound base existed at Dulce. He explained how Bennewitz had captured physical evidence of UFOs near Kirtland Air Force Base and connected this to claims of an underground base at the Archuleta Mesa. Bishop explained how in his book on Bennewitz’s claims, Project Beta, that he doubted the existence of an underground base. He had concluded that Bennewitz was side tracked by a disinformation campaign to get him to look away from evidence of events at Kirtland. Bishop revealed, however, how after the 2005 publication of his book that a number of insiders had confided to him that an undergound base does exist at Dulce. Together with the discovery of a vent to an underground facility, this led to him now changing his position and doubting his former skepticism.
Keith Ealy explained his own view that the Dulce underground base was a space time portal for interdimensionals. He pointed out that this was similar to Dr Jacque Vallee’s own conclusions regarding the UFO phenomenon. Norio Harayama, the conference organizer, also agreed with the interdimensional explaination for the strange events at Dulce and the Archuleta Mesa.

The one thing that clearly emerged from the conference was that strange military and UFO events at the Archuletta Mesa were indeed real and worth investigating. The underground extraterrestrial base hypothesis still remains as a plausible explanation for many who attended the first Dulce underground base conference.

I was in Dulce NM for several days and nites in 1996. The people of the town were like frightened deer. They did not want to talk or engage about the issue - at all - except about ramped animal mutilations. Many strangers coming and going frequently at the hotel I stayed in with big cars of utility vehicles - now called SUVs. No one in the area drove such vehicles. I staked out several locations. Saw off-road vehicles come and go but nothing more. One large white aluminum shack at the top of the hill off the main road had a large knoll beside it. The crest of the knoll had a large circular metal cover on it... similar to a man-hole cover on the road but much larger - 12 to 14 feet diameter. The aluminum shack had what I'd consider heavy electrical wiring, poles and what appeared to be transformers running beside it. Could have been the local electric relay point (??)
But no signage around it at all. My impression - the people of Dulce had a story but few were ready to share it.
Other aspects: The entrance west of the plain. The TV tech testimony. The Schneider material. Plans for boring nuclear defense weapons. Heavy special forces losses. Gray and reptilian presence. And so on and so on.
Incredible story but one fact intrigues me, Edmund Gomez has a photograph of a vent he took in the 80's yet has not released it to the public?

Pure nonsense! How can anyone in his right mind believe this garbage! The "vents" in the photos were put in to make it look like they're real. How come on "UFO Hunters" they couldn't find any vents? Ans:there are none! As for the "cattle mutilations", why would the government "russle" the cattle, and leave them there, when they can buy them under the cover of a company, or ranch, and then conduct experiments? I only have one real complaint with this report, and that is that Dr. Salla reported that in my lecture that Paul Bennewitz "had captured physical evidence of UFOs near Kirtland Air Force Base". I said or implied no such thing. What happened (and I thought this was made clear) is that he filmed and videotaped strange lights from his home near Kirtland. To me, that is not "physical evidence of UFOs" it is film of unidentified lights.
Yes, I do doubt my "former skepticism," but that does not mean I believe that there is (or was) any underground base near Dulce. I am simply more open to the possibility.
What many people who write about this and read these forums tend to assume is that if there are underground facilities in the US (there almost certainly are) that this equals "alien bases." Not many stop to think that these stories may be spread to relegate people who discuss them to the "kook bin," and it works. More serious research (like that in Richard Sauder's book "Underground Bases and Tunnels") needs to be done to separate truth from fiction and disinformation.
I also still feel that Dr. Salla's original review of my book "Project Beta" (linked at the end of the article) evinces a campaign driven principally by belief rather than an objective assessment of solidly-researched issues.
I cannot check up as yet on the information provided to me by new sources as regards the so-called "Dulce Base," but I am willing to suspend my belief and disbelief in pursuit of something that is closer to the truth.
i just can't understand why the military can build sophisticated underground secret bases and not have its own herd of selected cattle to use for its experiments. i mean...if the program is so top secret why would they compromise or threaten their security by flying around airlifting and and dumping cattle? why not just use their own?
Great article! It really makes one wonder what is really going on. I met and worked at an aquaculture firm in Bothell Washington in the last 1980's and was almost convinced that I was working for aliens at the time.... I think they are infiltrated throughout our society and have been for eons. What is that statment "the best way to hide something is to have it in full view of everyone."

I should like to make a few observations on the subject of a UFO base near Dulce. Firstly, any ETs studying humans would be stupid if they had not examined human cultures and languages. (As a matter of fact, I discovered that, from a dim and distant history, ETs are actually assimilated into human cultures.) Secondly, I have observed that ETs only make their presence known, because they want their presence to be known (UFO sightings are no coincidence).
Thirdly, ETs have been operating on Earth for a very long time. The ET base situation is neither strictly true, nor strictly false. In other words the ETs are real, but the events are staged. Given this, is it any surprise to find that ‘Dluce’ appears to mean ‘Sweetness of Home’?

Why is it so hard for people to believe that our government is hiding secret military bases! History already tells us that the military has had hidden secret facilities before (esp. in New Mexico). During WWII areas around Los Alamos held secret labrotories where scientists worked on the Manhattan project, it was only uncovered and revealed to people years later. And what about White Sands missle range and Kirkland Airforce base? Everyone in NM knows about the secret labs there. I highly doubt that the Archuleta Base is run by aliens, but i don't doubt that strange military experiments are happening there.

Why doesn't someone dig/drill a mine tunnel in the mountain where they think the base is located, sounds to me thats a pretty good way to be sure if a base exists. Also what about all these entrance tunnels around the dulce area on google earth, they must all go somewhere.
I would suggest to all of you out there who are in denial is to spend a month in Dulce NM. Rent a house or rv it out there. You can all write a strong argument against what is happening or ridicule everyone who has something to say but until you witness what is going on then you will never believe. These are the people who have the strength to show up. I went to Dulce once two years ago on a drive toward northern New Mexico and I felt very uncomfortable. I have not been back since. I personally have photographed ufos by accident in the area on weekend getaways. I have five different photos of ufos in the Dulce/Chama area. I don't show them because people are so negative with their opinions.
