The Canadian Government has authorized open public access to thousands of federal government documents concerning UFOs. A total of 9500 digitized documents spanning the years 1947 to the early 1980s have been made available through the Library and Archives Canada website. Titled “Canada's UFOs: The Search for the Unknown” the files include correspondence, reports, memos and procedures, some of which specifically deal with UFOs. The files come from Canada’s National Defense Department, the Department of Transport, the National Research Council, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Canada’s online release of its UFO X-Files follows closely upon the release at the end of January of Denmark's UFO files. Britain continues to release thousands of UFO files through a program of gradual releases it began in May 2007 through its national archives with the most recent being on October 2008. The French Space Agency had earlier announced on March 22, 2007, that it was making public its secret UFO files through a government website.
The important difference between the released Canadian UFO files with other country releases is the inclusion of departmental analyses rather than simply reports of UFO sightings. According to Victor Viggiani from Exopolitics Toronto , who has been monitoring the Canadian Government UFO website since its inception, “The Canadian files do not simply list UFO sightings; they describe actions, meetings and inter-departmental memoranda generated by Canadian officials that attempt to make sense of the considerable onslaught of UFO sightings as well as referencing American problems with keeping abreast of UFO sightings.”
For example, a September 1967 memo titled "Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) - Investigations", was released which stated:
a number of investigations of the reports suggest the possibility of UFOs exhibiting some unique scientific information or advanced technology which could possibly contribute to scientific or technical research.
Another memo details a UFO sighting at Shag Harbor witnessed by member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and six civilian witnesses on the night of October 4, 1967. The memo describes how “[w]itnesses reported seeing an object 60 feet in length moving in an easterly direction before it descended rapidly into the water, making a bright splash on impact.” The report continued: “A single white light appeared on the surface of the water for a short period of time. The RCMP, with help from local fishermen and their boats, endeavoured to reach the object before it sank completely.”
Undoubtedly the most significant documents are those associated with a 1950-1952 classified investigation and analysis of UFOs by a Department of Transportation team led by Wilbert Smith, a senior radio engineer. In his Project Magnet Report, Smith commented extensively on the flight performance of UFOs that were far in advance to anything known at the time:
… it is difficult to reconcile this performance with the capabilities of our technology, and unless the technology of some terrestrial nation is much more advanced than is generally known, we are forced to the conclusion that the vehicles are probably extra-terrestrial, in spite of our prejudices to the contrary."
Not all of the information made available through the Canadian archives is completely new to UFO researchers - many having been released in the 1980s in 16mm microfilm form through libraries in Canada and the U.S. The Library and Archive website, however, now provides a comprehensive online resource for the world public and media to scrutinize the Canadian Government UFO X-Files. Canada first began to release UFO files through its online archive in October 2007, and these have quickly increased to its present level of 9500 files. Canada therefore joins a select group of countries that have so far publicly released UFO files through government sponsored websites. As President Obama heads to Canada on February 19, he could take time from his busy schedule to ask Prime Minister Steven Harper for tips on how the U.S. might release to the public its own classified UFO X-Files.

This is great great news !! One Harper move that I like finally ! :-)
Seems like from the video Bush is running scared because the information about his planned 911 event will get out officially and he will be the terrorist hiding in Israel telling them lies to keep himself alive. Soon he will find himself hiding in a cave growing a long beard.
O-CANADA-Our whole man NATIVE land * Run Buddy RUN *~*
I think this is a wise move by the Prime Minister Harper. Maybe we could all work together and come up with a better understanding of these creatures from out there who visit earth.
Again, this appears to be another important step in the disclosure process. When unambiguous overt contact happens, the Powers that be must disclose the UFO/ET phenomena in order to avoid a "meltdown." According to our research and contacts, disclosure must happen before the 2017 date. Agreed, we do not like to get into predicting dates. All to often this never happens and people are left with a cynical view regarding this phenomena. However, this information comes not from us, but a serving officer in the United States Navy. Prime Minister Harper and Canandian government's release of this information is another important step down the road for disclosure. We will see more of this, not just from the Canadian government, but others.
First Contact is coming much sooner than 2017. Maybe even this year. It's clear that ET has plans to reveal themselves alot faster than expected and govt and media better catch up about disclosing the truth or risk having their hand tipped.
Way to go, Canada, eh?
These alien b*****ds are really starting to tick me off, and now that we're starting to get government admission as to their existence, maybe they will finally show themselves and stop annoying us (me) with all these d**med "sightings," "close encounters," "blips on radar," "abductions," etc, etc, blah, blah, blah, I mean, come on--show yourselves or stop annoying us (me). D**n, they really p** me off. I'd love to go a couple of rounds with one of those little big-headed freaks. I mean, you come billions of miles, for what? Just to annoy us? (me, in particular). Christ, with all that intelligence, stop acting like freak morons! Jesus, just land on the da***d White House lawn, or in Central Park, already, or go back to your stupid, brain dead planet and leave us (me) alone! Jerks. That's right, jerks. If you think I'm kidding, you little alien freaks, the come on. Try me. I'll break your little freak head for you. D**n, they p*** me off.
Canada release of UFO files shows us what serious Ufology is.
"a number of investigations of the reports suggest the possibility of UFOs exhibiting some unique scientific information or advanced technology which could possibly contribute to scientific or technical research."
The "X" is just a touch of dramatization, since there is nothing "X" in these documents.
Just compare these Canadian and British UFO files with the Exopolitical discourse.
Canadian and British documents ARE the disclosure.
What else can we expect?
If what we want is science-fiction, we must read the papers of self-proclaimed "gurus", contactees, mystics and "experts".
They do not need Evidences. They only need Imagination and "anonymous sources".
The Canadian UFO documents reflect what we know, or better, what we don't know about the UFO Phenomenon.

These sighting report documents were all released in the late 70s. There is nothing new here. Only that the archives is putting them on-line and that happened quite a while back.
I wish to clarify some things about the history of UFO files that have been released by the Canadian government based on my communications with Don Ledger from the Fund for UFO Research. The bulk of the files presently on archive (approx 7700) were released by at least 1988 in 16 mm microfilm. One could go to their local library in Canada or the U.S. and order the 16mm microfilm to view through the library scanners.
What's new here is that all these old files, along with almost 2000 released since the first release around 1988 are now available online. The Library and Archives Canada webpage states that the creation of its UFO webpage was in October 2007, and files have been added since then. Now a total of 9500 files are available.
What's new here is not so much the content of the files, but that they have all been made available through the internet.
The fact that the Canadian government has gone to the effort to digitize its UFO collection of 9500 files and make them all available online since October 2007 is newsworthy development in my opinion. Especially so given:
1. another 2000 files have been added since the 1980s.
2. the files are available to the world, and not just those ordering through Canadian and US public libraries
3. President Obama heads to Canada this week for his first international trip as President and declassification of UFO X-Files is something that senior people associated with his administration have shown a historical interest in.
4. that the online availability of the files follows similar processes implemented by other countries, UK, Denmark, France, etc., to make UFO information more accessible over the last two years.
So in sum, while the material is not new, the online accessibility of all 9500 files is the new development regard to Canada's UFO files.
Thank you for your interest in my article.
Aloha,
Michael Salla
Agreed Michael and Grant. It appears that access and availability to this information is the key to understanding disclosure. Call it "cracking the lid" of secrecy. Secrecy is only maintained by those not willing to look. It's the medium where the public finds the message as the late Neal Postman would say. Now if we can get the major media outlets to pick up on the re-release of this information, that would move things even faster.
This is a distraction. A disctration from what is the question.
Whoa?! Wait a minute, Ufo disclosure on Harper's clock? This party's "ideologies" are not really what I would associate with disclosure of secrecy matters. It smells like a fishy political ploy, but hey I guess nobody is really above a phenomenon tha is beyond everybody.
The most exciting part of the story is, Canadian government does not know more about UFOs than every cititzen: Nothing.
Like ordinary people, governments speculate too, as everybody can read e.g. in the UK MOD UAP report, dated 2001. However, they do not publish their beliefs to not create social disruptions. Fact is, people got their disclosure. (US excepted, since govt there fear mass suicides, like the Heavens-Gate incident) One could think, the problem were solved. However, wait a moment. Is there something else? Unfortunately, yes. There is a multi-billion economic factor connected to the topic: Our ever busy UFO/conspiracytainment industry. Disclosure is poison for their business model. Snake-oil sellers weren't clever business-people, if they hadn't a solution for this problem: They will simply claim, the whole stuff were a smoke-screen. And business can go on as usual. Since UFO-idolators and conspiracy enthusiasts never ask for a proof and evade logical thinking, they will swallow these claims.
So people can be pretty sure, in 2047 they will celebrate the 100 years Roswell in dignity. And nothing will have happend intil then.
Everyone knows that the U.S military are the main suspects in covering up alien UFOs from the public. It is only a matter of time before their machine comes crashing down. We want the air force to release anti-gravity technology to the public so planes like the one that crashed near buffalo will never happen again, it is ashamed that people only care about profits and not the safety of thei people. DAMn Ashamed.
Why do you think the pope is now coming out and saying that 'aliens are gods children too', why do you think that for the last 10 years we have been subjected to countless Alien/UFO blockbusters, why do you think governments are now making this information known? Be prepared, UFO's are not from outter space - they are home grown.
If an 'alien invasion' happens, it won't be the little green men.
just want to clarify a important point. M.Harper is the worst prime minister WE never had. He's a pure model of secret. A study made couple month ago (last elections) show the Harper administration hold the most closed and secret gourvernemet of the last 20years. Before election, key candidate passed 30% of them time meeting oil lobbyist. Conservator are the Republicain of ours country.
It's also important to know the way ours gouvernement work. M. Harper is the leader of a minority party so he can be reverse anytime by a coalition party. to avoid that they need to listen others party and make them happy. The need the support of other party to make motion and laws pass. To get this support they also adopt project from other clan.I'm pretty sure the disclosure was'nt from Harper. Conservator have any VETO. If all the chamber say yes they have no choice to say yes too. It can be interessting to search ''which party came with the disclosure idea''.
Not quite, Adam. To many variables to be strictly homegrown. Take it from a couple of guys who knows someone that has interacted with at least three ET species. Ya just can't make this up. It's real. No BS.
And, you're right. It won't be little green men.
I KNOW THE TRUTH. I AM THE TRUTH. ;)
I dare anyone to go to the Library and Archives Canada website and try to access Canada's UFO Files: The search for the unknown! We tried to access any file we could and guess what? A warning in bright red letters letting us know that this file was not available and on and on it went. We got bored trying to get access to anything....even maybe one piece of something interesting....and came up empty again. Oh, but not without the standard WARNING THIS FILE IS UNAVAILABLE and more similar such messages. What a bunch of garbage.... there is no disclosure of access to anything!!!!!If anyone has better luck in at least getting something of interest from this Government Site, please post it!!!!
I was there last week and the week before and came up with lots of great and interesting reports. And some not so interesting. This is alot better than what they used to have last year as I recall.
First, I'd like to say that I take the whole UFO phenomenon as something serious and worthy of study. That said...
...I challenge anyone to read Joseph Ciolino's post WITHOUT imagining Eric Cartman's voice.
Can't do it, can ya?
