Enjoy a day of waterside fun capped off with spectacular fireworks.  Here’s what’s going on around California's Gold Coast:

CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR ~ 12th Annual Fireworks by the Sea

8 am to 10 pm ~ Take a ride on the water taxi, tour an Artist’s Market, listen to live music and nosh on savory foods.  Other activities at the harbor include children’s games, face painting, rock climbing and bounce houses.  For the adventurous, try a free kayak lesson and one-hour rental courtesy of Channel Islands Kayak, 984-5995.

11 am ~ Parade will begin at the Harbor Landing Shopping Center and travel south on Harbor Blvd. to the Whale’s Tail Restaurant.

9 pm ~ Fireworks display over the water

Channel Islands Harbor is located near the intersection of the Channel Islands and Harbor Blvds.  Follow the directional signs.  For more info visit: Channel Islands Harbor Events

VENTURA ~ July 4th Street Fair and Festival

10 am to 5 pm ~ Stroll downtown Main Street from Fir to Ventura Avenue to visit artisans and crafters, see live entertainment and stop by food booths.  Tickets for the evening fireworks show at Ventura College will be available for purchase at the information booths on both Main and California Streets. 

11 am to 2 pm ~ Ventura County Tea Party Patriots Tax Revolt 2009.  Participants will meet at the  Ventura County Government Center at the corner of Victoria Ave. and Telephone Road in Ventura.  Contact: ebonney@west.net

9 pm (doors open at 5 pm) ~ FIREWORKS.  Ventura College Athletic Field, 4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura.  In addition to the annual fireworks display, food and game booths will be open.  Tickets at the gate: adults, $8; children, $6; under 3, free; family six pack, $35. Advance tickets: adults, $6; children, $4; family pack, $25 available during the downtown Street Fair, at area Vons stores and McDonalds.

SANTA BARBARA ~ Independence Day Celebration

Noon ~ Visitors can walk the Cabrillo waterfront where food, beverage and craft vendors will be available.

1 pm ~ 46th annual July 4th parade will commence on State Street

7 pm  ~ join Sparkle’s 2009 Freedom Celebration featuring patriotic and family-friendly entertainment at West Beach. 

9 pm ~ Pyro Spectaculars will present a 22 minute fireworks show, also off West Beach.

Traffic will be congested so the public is being encourage to travel by foot, bike or other travel services.  For more information:  Santa Barbara Website
