I recently interviewed Charles White of Fabled Environments.  Fabled Environment's Modern Floorplans: Victorian Style Mansion has been nominated for a Best Cartography ENnie.

MT: Tell us a little about your company.
 
CW: Fabled Environments is a cartography studio specializing in modern floor plans and diagrams for RPGs. To date, we have released 12 structures and 3 bundles of our maps. We are always looking for new ideas and projects!
 
I'm definitely not the typical gamer. I'm a seminary graduate and hold two masters degrees, one with a focus in American Church History and the other, an advanced masters, in the area of American Religion and Culture. Krista White is an experienced architectural drafter who has worked on many real world projects. In addition, she has a degree in interior design and is a painter, sculptor, and photographer.
 
MT: Tell us about your cartography entry.

CW: Our entry is a 20,000 square foot Victorian-inspired mansion. This 36" x 48" floorplan includes some exterior details, including landscaping. The building itself is two stories tall and includes a swimming pool, a maid's room, mezazzine, library, grand staircase, and two panic rooms. True to the Victorian feel, there are secret passages including a secret passage out of the structure. The map, like all of our maps can be printed with or without lables, with or without furniture and with or without gridlines.
 
MT: What sets your map entry apart from the pack?

CW: Our map is designed to be printed either as 8" x 11" tiles and assembled or as a large format document and dropped on the table for instant play. The maps are designed by an interior designer/architectural drafter using AutoCAD so they are very precise and well-crafted. In addition, we have 8" x 11" copies of the maps included as well for use as handouts to players or in case the GM would like to draw the structure by hand.

MT: What type of player will be attracted to your product?

CW: Players  and GMs wanting a structure that can be used in numerous genres. This product could be used in horror, modern, post-modern (Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, etc.), superheroes and many more. If a player wants a high quality product that they can use multiple times in multiple genres, this is the product for them.

MT: Anything else you would like to add?

CW: We are honored to recieve our second Ennie nomination this year and would like to thank all of the folks at 12 To Midnight for their support as well as all of the fans of our products.
