In between Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, Bioware developed Jade Empire for the Xbox in 2005. It was later ported to the PC in 2007.

When asked about the possibility of a sequel in the latest GameTrailers TV, the Canadian developer stated that, even though the game has a soft spot in their hearts and they are constantly thinking about it, they have nothing to announce regarding a sequel to Jade Empire. Bioware explained that they have been busy lately with a full plate of releases with Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
