Behind Her Blue Flame in easily the most anticipated DLC of Valkyria Chronicles. This $4.99 add-on will have you playing as the evil Imperial enemy. More importantly, you can control the beautiful but deadly Selvaria Bles.
In Valkyria Chronicles, you play through the entire game from the eyes of the Gallian forces. While it still had a great story, it was a one-sided affair. The Behind Her Blue Flame DLC let you experience the battles of the enemy’s point of view.
The story behind this expansion is short but great. It humanizes the faceless enemy in the battlefield in Valkyria Chronicles. In addition, you will also see Selvaria in a different, gentler side. Unfortunately, you won’t run into the Squad 7 as the missions in Behind Her Blue Flame takes place before a certain event in Valkyria Chronicles.
The DLC reuses two maps from the main game. While it contains three missions, you are missing out on something special if you only play through it one time. The first mission has two different methods for victory which determines the map layout of the second one. Acing the first and the two alternative layouts of the second mission will unlock a special third mission in which you can play as Selvaria Bles in her powerful Valkyrur form.
So even though it reuses assets from the main game, the Behind Her Blue Flame DLC is well worth $4.99 price tag thanks to the added tale (with English and Japanese voice-acting to boot) bringing depth to the main storyline in addition to the new gameplay as a Valkyrur.
