November is the busiest month of the year for new game releases. With the holiday season closing in, many gaming companies choose to release their blockbuster titles in hopes of benefiting from the rush. So which video games are worth buying this month? Here are the top five upcoming games of November.
5. Left 4 Dead 2 (PC and Xbox 360)
Coming out just a year later than the first game, Left 4 Dead 2 was quickly bombarded with hate when it was announced. However, the hatred calm down once more of the game was revealed. Left 4 Dead 2 is simply a much improved sequel with more diverse enemies, melee weapons and new tweaks to the A.I. Director system. You won’t find a better co-operative game this November.
4. Dragon Age Origins (PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3)
Before Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, BioWare developed the critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate series. Dragon Age Origins marks a return to the old school action role-playing elements. As with other games developed by the much respected developer, this multiplatform title is shaping up to be another gem.
3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo Wii)
After years of hiatus, the legendary Mario series finally returns to its 2D roots on a home console. New Super Mario Bros. Wii brings back the classic gameplay with brand new levels, power-ups, and updated graphics. The biggest addition, however, has to be four-player simultaneous co-operative play. New Super Mario Bros. Wii should be another excellent game in the classic platforming series.
2. Assassin’s Creed II (Xbox 360 and Playstation 3)
Although flawed, the first Assassin’s Creed managed to become one of the best-selling games so far this generation. The sequel is shaping up to be a big improvement over the original with more mission variety in addition to better combat depth. With the excellent core gameplay remaining intact as well, Assassin’s Creed II should be another big hit for the rising series.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3)
In November 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare lit the gaming world on fire with its addicting online multiplayer. Two years later, the direct sequel is set to do the same as well with its cinematic single-player mode, deeper online multiplayer and a brand new co-operative campaign. You won’t find a better game coming out this November than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
