With summer, comes a slew of Northern California's finest events. An array of June festivals leave you no excuse to be bored at home. Here are a few of my favorites.

San Francisco's new Sunday Streets heads out to the Mission District this Sunday June 7. The mural lined streets are closed, bikes are rented out gratis, and plenty of music and food will (hopefully) welcome the sun.

The ever-so-popular Haight Ashbury Street Fair kicks into gear on June 14 from 11:00am-5:30pm. Expect funky music, heaps of people, and plenty of booze.

This year's SF Pride takes place the last weekend of the month, with headliners BoA and Solange Knowles. Come out and be dazzled by the costumes, the loud music and the fierce pride of San Francisco's finest.

San Francisco's Stern Grove Festival starts up June 21 with the divine Roberta Flack. Bring wine and cheese and the whole clan to listen to music beneath a canopy of eucalyptus trees.

Orinda's famous outdoor Shakespeare festival, California Shakespeare Theater promises quite the season. With a fun Romeo and Juliet taking the stage this week.

Vineyard concerts are all the rage this summer. Head out to Livermore's Wente Vineyards, Kenwood's Landmark Winery, Saratoga's Mountain Winery, Oakville's Robert Mondavi Music Festival, and Murphy's Ironstone for everything from big name performers like India Aire to local bluegrass trios strumming in the sunshine.

If you happen to be in Marin, Tiburon's Summer Fridays attracts local families and couples looking to soak up the long evenings. Restaurants put tables outside, musicians invite dancers to shake their thing, and plenty of vino make this a worthy trek.

Head out to Santa Cruz for live music on Friday nights right on the boardwalk. Sure, you get the old school stars like Eddie Money, but shows are free and wildly entertaining.

Up in Wine Country, you don't want to miss the family-friendly Harmony Music Festival, taking place June 12-14. Local musicians like Michael Franti share the stage with international acts.

For some serious fun, head up to Mendocino Fairgrounds for the epic Sierra Nevada World Music Festival from June 19-21--Friday night's show guarantees to be a thrill, with performances by Femi Kuti and Zap Mama.

Seems everyone is singing up in Eureka on Thursday evenings. After exploring the redwoods, come hear live music in the square from 6-8pm.

Up in Lake Tahoe, you'll find live music at the Truckee Amphitheater on Wednesday evenings, Commons Beach on Sunday from 4-7, and at Northstar at Tahoe on Sunday afternoons. On Summer Solstice weekend, visit Tahoe City for the Heart and Solstice Festival from June 18-21. Each day you find events like farmers markets, car shows, music and more.
