Welcome to another erotic book review. Today I present to you Kissed by a Rose by Marc Nobbs.
Now for my disclaimer: This book or review not intended for people under 18 due to graphic sex and is intended for adults. My reviews also may include materials that some people may find offensive and objectionable. Just so you know.
Books reviewed by me will be rated as follows:
5- Highly recommended to buy (Very hot, well-written, deep compelling love story, and answers all of my questions, leaves me wanting more)
4- Recommended to buy (Very hot, well-written, compelling story, some questions left unanswered, satisfied with conclusion)
3- Recommended to check out at library (Hot, well-written, more questions asked than answered, ok with the conclusion, happy to return book)
2- Recommended to borrow (Not hot, lukewarm, writing level not good but ok, too many holes to care about story, why was this book published, mad at friend for not giving a warning, but have to finish, outcome not promising, some redeeming qualities)
1- Read at your own risk (so horrible, read while family was held hostage and the only way to save them was to read the book, wants minutes, hours, days back after reading)
This book is published by Phaze Books and is a novel.
Marc Nobbs writes a sensual love story of a young man named Adam falling for a starlet, Chloe.
Reading the story, one thing was clear. Men are different when it comes to descriptions of sex. Where a woman is more flowery in describing the act, the male gives a more real language. It is more grounded.
The male lead is also a normal guy. If a woman had written this the male lead would have been an alpha male which most women love in fantasy. In this Marc knocks that fantasy on its ass. He writes his romance with a bit more realism, and quite frankly it is a refreshing change.
As this is written from the male point of view, we as women reading this get to see how the other half of the human population thinks and reacts to love. Not as typical or run of the mill, but just different.
Marc not only does romance really well, in his own male way, but he is also very descriptive in his writing. I have never been to England, but he described the location so well I felt as if I were there. And while he uses his UK colloquism in his writing, he still was able to describe the things to assure understanding for those of us who are not from there.
The book is 290 pages and yet it felt like I was seriously “watching” a 2 hour movie, one of those British imports that show the normal guy falling in love, such as the one Hugh Grant plays so very well.
Bottom line, this is a well written romance written by a man who gets it. I give it a 4 because it truly ends on a high note and a very happily ever after. It s been awhile since I’ve read such a happy ending in a romance, and for that Marc Nobbs is becoming one of my new favorites! He writes his sex scenes in a real language, and he is not afraid to touch on certain subjects. Don’t let this one pass you by!
