This is one amazing stunt performed by an Arab automotive enthusiast. Flipping the Volkswagen off a half pipe, while flipping the door open, and landing it 100% safely is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Special thanks to our friend "Salman P" for bringing us yet another awesome video! It is so amazing, it makes me question it's authenticity. Could this be computer animated? Possibly, but it looks very real to me. The vehicle appears to be prepared for the stunt, as the driver is using a five point harness and lowered suspension. The suspension is tighter, and would effectively help "launch" the vehicle. Overall, it appears as if this stunt is legit!
More into the physics, lets consider the speed and angle of approach. We can't see the ramp, so we will have to just assume it's the typical half pipe with a protruding ledge. This protruding ledge will help flip the car, as it comes into contact with the stiff suspension. Also, the force of the vehicle running up the half pipe will compress the suspension, and at the top it will begin to release which helps produce the flipping action seen. The driver hits the ramp in third gear, which is about 45 to 55 mph. This is enough speed to launch the vehicle to the height seen of about 15 feet above the ramp. The physics of this stunt suggest it is legitimate, what do you think?
