In an announcement concerning Team Fortress 2 avatars, Valve gives hint to a new game mode for the FPS along with which character is next in line to receive a class update.
Using The Soldier as the voice of the avatar announcement, Valve made two references to hill defense:
This is the problem with the youth of today: too much time inventing nonsense words, not enough time taking a bullet in the lung defending a hill. I don't have to know what the hell twitters and texting and body sprays are to understand that they're not the sort of thing men should be engaged in. Like conversations, or painting things that aren't a house.
The following is a short list of things men should be engaged in, at all times:
1. Getting a haircut
2. Yelling
3. Digesting ribs
4. Hill defense
Steam's TF2 forums have stirred up at the apparent implication that the addition of a King of the Hill gameplay mode is on the way. This screenshot taken by a forum member and SDK user of the game provides more evidence to this fact.
Additionally, there are rumblings that The Soldier taking the reigns on the announcement points to the fact that his character will be the next to get the class update treatment, with only himself, The Demoman and The Engineer yet to be given the upgrade.
It certainly wouldn't be anything new for Valve to give clues at new TF2 content in this way, recalling that the company's April Fool's joke turned out to be part of the Sniper/Spy update.
