Back in the 1960s, Baby Boomers cast off hundreds of years of partner dancing traditions and began dancing apart from their partners. The twist, the jerk, the monkey, the swim-- multiple new dances popularized this disturbing trend. What were we thinking? After all these years of freestyle dancing, many of us have come back to partner dancing and discovered touching is fun.
Tonight there is another great opportunity to practice your dance steps and burn a few thousand calories at the same time.
Mr. Boogie Woogie is back in town and playing at the Chicago Bar. For the unfamiliar, Mr. Boogie Woogie (Eric-Jan Overbeek) is an amazing boogie woogie and blues piano player from The Netherlands. Lucky for us, Tucson is his home away from home. He comes to Tucson twice a year for 3-4 weeks and playsmultiple venues with local artists. Tonight's performance at the Chicago Bar is the first event of this trip.
Among Tucson Baby Boomers-- especially swing dancers and listeners of KXCI-- Mr. Boogie Woogie is legendary. Bring your dancing shoes to the Chicago Bar tonight and be prepared to boogie. If you can't make it tonight, check out his calendar for other dates-- including the Tucson Blues Festival next weekend.
