Your holiday crafting can be a more pleasurable task if you  arm yourself with the proper tools. There are old stand-bys that every paper crafter needs to have on the desk such as good quality scissors and paper cutter. Fiskars products are an excellent place to start. They are a well known, reputable company that excels producing in cutting tools.

A couple of great paper scoring tools are the ScorPal developed by Diana Crick and the Scor-It from the Hammonds Group. Both products give the opportunity to score paper in an easy manner, giving precise measurements. The Scor-It has been around a little longer and there are two sizes to choose from. The Mini Scor-it and the larger 12 inch Scor-it board. It is made out of wood, where the ScorPal isof plastic construction. The ScorPal is easier to store as it is less bulky, the stylus is not attached, and is stored in a recessed area at the top of the tool, where it snaps in. The stylus on the Scor-It is attached with a small chain, which makes loosing it almost impossible. Left-handed crafters may find this troublesome. Both of these fine tools can be found in craft stores as well as online.

Marvy produces another essential tool. Their best selling heat embossing tool is a handy “utensil” needed within easy reach in the crafters work area. This tool is used to melt embossing powder to produce a raised image, adding texture and style to your card. Heat embossing also adds elegance and a professional look to your images. There are many colors of powders as well as fine and coarse grain embossing products available.

Remember to use good quality tools when making your holiday cards and projects. Many will become family treasures that are enjoyed for years.
