The Halifax soundcheck report (thanks again, Patti and Kris) is notable because "Mull of Kintyre" is included, which he never does in the States. Maybe if we tried a petition.
On the "final ever McCartney shows" report, there had been questions about a headline on Paul's website. That post explains and answers them.
Paul McCartney appearing on Letterman's show next Wednesday won't be the first time he's been on that stage in the Ed Sullivan Theater since the Sullvan show. Above is a clip from MTV's "Up Close" in December, 1992 with his band at the time, including Linda, also filmed there. We're told, by the way, that Paul will be the only guest on the show.
Again on the remasters, this comment from Craig Pospisil Friday afternoon on our Facebook page: "Very interesting that amid all the Michael Jackson hoopla over his sales now, the two expensive box sets are already at #59 for the stereo set and #29 (!!!) for the mono set. It really says something about their popularity that two months before the releases and with such high tags they rank so well." (As we write this, it's actually #18 for the stereo, #14 for the mono.)
It's not very often when Yoko Ono gets outright love from a mainstream newspaper, especially a British one. But she does here in this commentary by Ben Myers in the UK Guardian.
Planet Waves has new lines of Beatle guitar straps and Beatles guitar picks.
May Pang visited the "White Feather: The Spirit of Lennon" exhibit at the opening and took pictures that are on her MySpace page. Some are with Julian and Cynthia.
Friday was the second annual Beatles Day in Liverpool, as reported by the Liverpool Daily Post. (A second report is here.) The Post ran several other stories: a Beatles trivia quiz., an interview with Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders talking about the Beatles and a photo gallery. And here's another from the Echo. The Echo also has an account of a Magical Mystery Tour bus ride. ClickLiverpool reported artist Andy Prior was creating a special artwork of the Beatles for the day. Here is the day's official website.
We wrote about the new "Fab 4D" attraction at the Beatles Story in Liverpool. The Liverpool Post has a picture gallery and a review (though we were having trouble with the link when we were writing this).
