Beatle fans will notice something eeringly similar as "The Jonas Brothers Concert Experience" DVD begins: teenage girls' screams haven't changed much in 45 years.
You'll notice several similarities to "A Hard Day's Night" as the film, being released on DVD June 30, continues.
For example, the boys suddenly find themselves stuck in traffic and their limo is surrounded by screaming girls. What to do? The guys exit through the roof and start running through the street with their tween fans close at their heels, occasionally mugging at fans along the way.
Sound familiar?
Wait, we're not through yet. The camera suddenly pans to the boys sitting on a bench off to the side. The girls run right past them, never noticing them.
That's not all. The chase ends with the boys making their escape by jumping into a helicopter. The only thing missing is the autographed pictures flying from the craft as they take off.
The main part of "The Jonas Brothers Concert Experience", a quasi day-in-the-life of the trio, is the live performance. Orchestrated with enough theatrics to keep the fans excited, the Jonases rock through songs, including four not included in the theatrical version of the film: "Can’t Have You” and “A Little Bit Longer,” plus two bonus songs, “Love Bug” and “Shelf.” In addition, the the Blu-ray version has both 2-D and 3-D versions of the film and includes 3-D glasses. (The standard DVD only has the 2-D version.)
As one of the many names touted as successors to the Beatles through the years, musically they aren't all that bad: a little power pop mixed with young harmonies and a hard rock edge. There have been worse pretenders to the throne.
Wonder if their next movie will involve problems with a ring sent by a fan?
