Decatur Wine Festival 2009
The Decatur Arts Alliance and Decatur Package Store host the 8th Annual Decatur WineTasting Festival
on Saturday, November 7 from 1pm until 4pm. The event is located downtown on the Old Courthouse Square in Decatur, Ga.
The Decatur Wine Tasting Festival was created by the owners of Sage on Sycamore and Birdi's
restaurants and the Decatur Arts Alliance as a fundraiser and an opportunity to showcase
Decatur as a food and wine destination. Decatur has numerous fine dining restaurants
and the Decatur Wine Tasting Festival helped establish Decatur as a wine destination and raise
money for local arts organizations. The involvement of Decatur Package Store, a retail wine shop,
during the second year of the Festival has further enhanced Decatur's wine appeal.
The event has evolved into the single most important fundraiser for the Decatur Arts Alliance.
The Decatur Arts Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts and arts
education in the City of Decatur. It is a partnership of artists, business owners, residents and
government dedicated to supporting and enhancing the arts in the city of Decatur. The DAA
sponsors the annual Decatur Arts Festival which is free to the public. It also provides a collaborative
environment to coordinate the interests of artists, gallery owners, theater groups, dance groups
and performance venues within Decatur and to help build the image of the city as a strong arts community.
Festival guests will enjoy over 350 wines from around the world, samples from area restaurants and live music. Attendes are encouraged to use Marta - it's Smarta and Green!
