Everybody knows about the upcoming blockbuster titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 but there are also some other potential heavy-hitters coming out in the next couple of months that should not be overlooked. Here is a list of a few games that are either coming out or are underrated that you should ask for.

Borderlands

Borderlands is an FPS / RPG mix that is scheduled to come out pretty soon on October 20th. The big thing about this game are the randomly generated weapons that can be found on the map totaling over 3 million. That's right, there are over 3 million different weapons in Borderlands. The game takes place in a Mad Max-inspired world and I say it's about time there is a video game placed in that setting. Borderlands will definitely keep you busy for quite some time and is a great game to ask for.

Dragon Age: Origins

An upcoming RPG developed by BioWare that is scheduled to be released for Xbox 360 on November 3rd. Perhaps one of the more highly anticipated games on this list, Dragon Age is set in a fantasy world with dwarves, elves, and of course dragons. Like other games by BioWare, moral choices play a role in this game and how you act throughout the game will affect how the story plays out. To get a grasp of how this game will feel, the CEO of BioWare has stated that Dragon Age: Origins is the "spiritual successor" to the Baldur's Gate series, a video game series based on Dungeons & Dragons. I would assume that it is safe to say if you like things such as Lord of the Rings or Dungeons & Dragons, you will probably love Dragon Age: Origins.

The Saboteur

Another game set during World War II, The Saboteur isn't just a run of the mill shooter. Instead, it takes on more of a Metal Gear Solid-esque approach and focuses on stealth action. You take on the role of a man named Sean Devlin who battles the Nazi occupation of France via sabotage. A uniqueness about this game is that it focuses on the color of your surroundings. When the morale of the region of Paris you are in is low, the game will be completely black and white. As you fight the Germans, the French's will to fight will be increased and so will the colors of the game in that area of the city. The Saboteur is scheduled for release on December 8th.

Red Faction: Guerilla

This game actually is already out, it was released way back in June. It is an underrated game, however, and would make for a great Christmas present. By the time Christmas rolls around, Red Faction: Guerilla will have been out for nearly 7 months so you should be able to get a great deal on it which makes it a great stocking-stuffer. As for the game itself, it's a very solid FPS that combines a great storyline with a relatively open world to explore.

If you are planning on buying one of these games as a gift, you should be aware that all of them are available for both Xbox 360 and PS3 so you should make sure you purchase the correct version for the person!
