Anyone who has kids probably has stacks of artwork. So, how do you archive the artwork in an organized way after it has spent some time on display?
First, purge out the artwork that didn't take long to create or is not a masterpiece. Your garage would be filled in just a few years if you kept every scrap of paper. You may want to ask your child to select their favorites to keep. If they are really attached to all of the artwork, you may want to purge when they are not around.
If you have a 3 dimensional piece of art, consider taking a photo of it by itself and another of it with your artist. A photograph stores a lot easier than a 3 dimensional piece of art.
Next, get storage containers for the artwork you want to keep. I like the ones above....they are 9" x 12" and are less than $12 for a set of 5. I like the white ones because I allow my kids to decorate them with their handprints and they have a steel name plate to label the child's name and year.
Set a schedule for how often you archive artwork. I like to keep a big box all year and archive once a year in the summer. The rule is that all artwork for the entire year must fit in one box or more purging is required.
