Research consistently shows that passengers go to Alaska for glaciers, mountains, wildlife, Denali Park, the Alaska railroad and Inside Passage cruising.  Princess Cruises has studied their passenger demographics and found that 35% of passengers who cruise to Alaska are first-timers.  This is 50% more than the average cruisers on Princess Cruises.  Princess Cruises also found that another 45% of cruisers to Alaska on Princess are past passengers of other cruise lines.  Alaska vacations are a great option for families and multi-generational groups because there are age-appropriate activities for all.

There are 4 types of Princess itineraries for Alaska.

• Inside Passage – a 7-day roundtrip from Seattle

This cruise runs from May through September in 2010 with convenient Saturday and Sunday departures from Seattle on the Golden Princess® and Sapphire Princess®.  There are 4 ports of call with Tracy Arm Fjord scenic cruising on all Sapphire Princess departures.  Golden Princess® alternates scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park and Travy Arm Fjord on every other itinerary.  In 2010 there will be 37 departures on this itinerary.

• Inside Passage -  a 10-day roundtrip from San Francisco

This cruise runs from May to September in 2010 on the Sea Princess®.  On this leisurely 10-day itinerary from San Francisco, you will have lots of time to enjoy the amenities on board the Sea Princess®.  There are 4 ports of call with Tracy Arm Fjord or Glacier Bay scenic cruising, depending on the departure date.  All itineraries feature Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria plus one of the following, depending on departure date:  Skagway, Haines or Icy Strait Point.

• Voyage of the Glaciers – a 7-day one-way trip between Vancouver, B.C.  and Anchorage (Whittier).

This 7-day voyage runs from May to September in 2010 with Saturday departures on the Diamond Princess® and the Coral Princess®.  There are Monday departures on the Island Princess®.  This itinerary runs northbound and southbound between Vancouver, BC and Anchorage (Whittier).  There are 3 ports of call:  Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan.  Itinerary includes Glacier Bay National Park on every departure.  The National Park only permits two ships per day to have access to this spectacle of nature.  Margerie Glacier, at the end of the bay, will give you a dramatic view of calving ice breaking into the ocean.  This is one of Alaska’s “don’t miss” experiences.  A visit to College Fjord on all Northbound sailings and a visit to Hubbard Glacier on all Southbound sailings are also on the itinerary.

• Alaska Connoisseur – a 14-day roundtrip from Seattle

This itinerary runs from May through August in 2010 on the intimate Royal Princess®, with only 710 passengers.  A 14-day roundtrip from Seattle, it leaves on Mondays and has 7 ports of call.  This is a do not miss with only 8 departures.  Every departure includes Glacier Bay National Park and Tracy Arm Fjord.  This is a destination-rich itinerary and features the best Inside Passage ports and unique calls in Seward and Kodiak.
