Harvest Moon - Krista D. Ball (Note: content includes mild insinuation of bisexuality)

Sorry, but you won't be able to purchase and read Ms. Ball's intriguing story until October 1st , but it's worth the wait.. At first you may think you’ve delved into a historical offering, but trust that you haven’t. The time and place only add interest to the story and draw you into scenes that are so well described you’ll believe you’re actually in an Indian encampment.
Dancing Cat, through no fault of her own, has been dubbed “Cursed One,” and treated unkindly by her own people—even her mother and grandmother. But for crumbs of food left in secret by her brother, she might have starved. Lacking not only nourishment, she hungers for compassion and kindness she once enjoyed. Facing a bleak winter and desperate, she dares take possession of the tribe’s sacred bundle, hoping for a peek of what’s to come. Praying to her ancestors for help in finding her path, Dancing Cat gets far more than a glimpse of what the future holds.
You're bound to be shocked by her magical transformation and the person who saves her from further torture or retribution.
The story is well-written, and although a quick read, you’ll be entertained. Other than wondering about the heroine's prior 'position' as a messenger which you won't find fully explained, the book delivers a healthy dose of fantasy and paranormal that I didn't see coming. Of course, this isn't a full-length novel, and the messenger issue didn't play a role in the outcome. Some of us are just nosy readers.
You can always tell a good story when the ending comes far too soon and leaves you wanting much, much more. Such is the case with Harvest Moon. Kudos, Krista D. Ball for a page turning read and to publisher, Lea Schizas, for sharing an advanced reading copy for this review.
Ms. Ball’s novel is among the first releases for Muse It Up Publishing. To see what else you can expect from this new house, check out their website and join their reader’s loop.
