New York - For five years a beautiful mixed breed dog named Olive sat in a shelter, waiting for a home.
Think about that - five years.
The good news is that she did not lose her life during that period of time. Though the facility which she was housed at was low-visibility and had little foot traffic, at least it did not have to kill for space.
But the flip side is that this extremely affectionate dog grew up in a kennel run.
No grass, no trees, no ball chasing, no walks, no car rides, no family to call her own.
Not much of a life.
Someone took pity on Olive when her life was in jeopardy at the shelter - pulling her out and taking her to boarding.
Things were really looking up for Olive when an adopter came forward.
But the joy was short lived.
After just a month in a real home, the realization was made that Olive and her new family were not a perfect fit.
Now Olive is back in a boarding facility - a situation that for economical reasons - cannot last.
A situation for quality of life reasons - should not last.
Information on Olive:
- 5 yrs of age
- 42 lbs
- House-trained
- Very people friendly
- Fully vetted
- Loves to go for walks
- Does not like cats - best as an only dog
That final stat on Olive is part of the reason that she has been sitting for so long..."best as an only dog".
So many potential adopters have other dogs.
But someone out there doesn't.
Someone either is considering a new dog or has recently lost their only dog - someone has a spot for this pretty girl who has been deprived of so much during her life.
The trick is to find that person. The trick is to network Olive far and wide - to seek out a potential new guardian.
Please visit Olive's very own Facebook page at this link. Then, share her story with others.

If we all work together, hopefully we can find Olive a real home - something other than a boarding kennel.
