Disc golf baskets for home practice

The previous article compared the disc golf baskets that are portable and easy to carry around. This one shows and compares the disc golf baskets that are not mounted in the ground but are not really portable, you can move them around and set them where you want them, but they are basically made to set up in your yard and leave them in your yard. You can collapse them and take them with you but they are a bit harder to take to the park.

These are the baskets that are available at major disc golf online stores. There is one from Discraft, 2 from Innova, 2 from Ching, 4 from DGA, 1 from Lightning, and 1 from In Step. There are a couple of other ones I found but they were plastic and not really serious baskets for practicing disc golf.

Here are links to the Manufactures website where you can see the information on the Disc golf baskets they manufacture. Below you can compare them in the table.

Generally speaking the more chains the better the basket will catch the discs but there are some variations in design that work better than others with fewer chains. The higher prices baskets also generally have heavier chains that work better. The lower chain count baskets can be greatly improved by adding an inner set of chains for a reasonable cost as well. I have an Instep (Pacific Outdoors) basket that works just fine for me.

I found out about, and started playing disc golf in 1978 when the sport was in its infancy. There was only 1 good course in Minnesota at that time...
