An invitation to eat – Larry’s 1332 – it’s all about the food

Larry Schwartz is living his dream and we, the consumer, reap the rewards.  Larry, who while going to law school worked at the old Sid Mandel’s on Liberty Road, got bitten by the food bug.  Practicing law went by the wayside and Larry went tableside. Thirty five years later, after a stellar career in fine catering and event management both in Maryland and New York, Larry has opened his first restaurant, Larry’s 1332 in the small little village of Arbutus less than five minutes of the Baltimore Beltway (695).

A number of you who might have known the location as The Lunchbox Lady at 1332 Sulphur Spring Road.  It has been transformed with Larry’s innate sense of style and panache to Larry's 1332.  Blue floors, bright colors, mirrors adorn the revamped location and the oh so comfortable seating.  Many of The Lunchbox Lady sandwiches remain along with Larry’s daily lunch specials. Larry’s 1332 is open for lunch, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. BUT come mid September Larry’s 1332 will open for dinner on Friday evenings.( hot off the email press - here is the menu for the first Friday Night dinner.)  For ladies who lunch or the business professional it is the perfect intimate space –so much better than fast food or chain dining.  Eat in – the space is so nice although carryout is readily available as well as walk away foods. Take home quarts of Larry’s soups.

Remember Larry is a caterer so he can come to you for any type of occasion or come to Larry’s 1332 for early morning meetings or small evening events.

Let’s talk food – (check out the slide show)

I was about one of two dozen media and locals invited to the launch soiree.  The first way we eat is with our eyes, if it is visually appealing we will want to go the next step to consuming.  Schwartz, who seems to have the Martha Stewart gene, knows how to make the plate, the food stunning.  The second step is the food, not overworked Modernist cuisine but foods we know and love that have a real burst of flavor.  As simple as a salad of heirloom tomatoes to a sweet watermelon soup with feta cheese – the individual flavors spoke for themselves.  Everything I tasted was spot on with flavor, texture and eye appeal.  I am looking forward to heading back on my own dime when they open up for Friday night dinners.

The website is under construction BUT call and get your name on their email for daily special notification.  Here is an example from last Monday.
