Matthew was born and raised in Downriver Michigan. Growing up, he would watch and follow the Detroit Tigers with his father as a way to appear manly to him at the age of 10. Years would pass, parents would divorce, and he and his father would be separated by hundreds of miles. But that wouldn’t stop them from talking about the Tigers through phone and e-mail. Matthew's father passed away in 2004 and he lost his closest fellow Tigers fan. With no one to talk to, he began to write. He's a passionate Tigers fan that he hopes shows through his writing.
