Woman burns dog alive for chewing on a Bible

A Spartanburg County, South Carolina woman, Miriam Smith, was charged with felony animal cruelty for burning alive her nephew's one year old pit bull after the dog chewed on her Bible which was left on the front porch. Smith wrapped an electrical cord around the dog's neck and hanged the dog from a tree and then covered it with kerosene and caught her on fire. The smell of kerosene was still evident at the crime scene after almost two weeks.

Smith said the dog, a female named Diamond, was "a Devil dog" and that she feared it would attack neighborhood children. She also said God told her to do it.

The Bible teaches belief in superstition based non-existent creatures such as the Devil/Satan, demons, etc. The King James version even teaches belief in unicorns, satyrs and dragons.

Belief in the Bible has not only brought about this incident of extreme cruelty to animals (the way she burned the dog alive is reminiscent of how the Christians used to burn people alive who they labeled as heretics) but it is the cause of daily unnecessary suffering of animals who are slaughtered according to the kosher method of slaughter. Instead of being rendered unconscious before being killed, in the kosher method of slaughter the animal is fully conscious when its throat is cut and it is left to bleed to death. The superstition of Islam follows a similarly cruel method of slaughter which is called Halal.

Jaimie Nelson, the director of the county Environmental Enforcement Department, indicated his belief Smith may have a mental problem. The Bible has pushed many people across the line into mental illness which has resulted in horrific multiple murders of their own children not to mention the children in the U.S. who die every month because their Christian parents take seriously the promises in the Bible of healing through laying on of hands and prayer.

Pastor D. I feel sorry for you and the other sheep that can not think for them selves but need to be told right from wrong. Religion is the the worst thing that was forced on man kind by control freaks. It has caused more death and suffering than all wars plagues and famine put together and for any one to say it is good . Well that shows you to be a crook ( donations) or a nut bag

@benztech: Buddy, you might want to learn to spell and form cohesive sentences before you try slamming educated people. It generally works in your favor.

What a biased and one-sided article. Have you ever heard of journalism being objective, Mr. Johnson? You might try being tolerant once in a while, huh?
