In the mornings it feels like Fall is upon us and that means that it's planning time for some great Fall trips. Here are some suggested getaways for Fall in Arizona:
Sedona - Hike such beautiful places as the West Fork Oak Creek Trail. It's an easy trail beside a stream. Enjoy the cliffs and when you return, linger over a picnic. Day use fee applies. Sedona is home to some lovely resorts and B&B's that will add to your visit and allow you to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Stay in Oak Creek or Sedona.
Flagstaff - If you are lucky the Aspens will be turning golden yellow during your visit. Visit the Arboretum for some Fall foliage. Head up Mars Hill for a visit to Lowell Observatory. When the day is over, spend your evening sipping on a local brew at a place like Beaver Street Brewery. You can stay in the outskirts of Flagstaff or find a place close in where you can walk to restaurants and Heritage Square. Places to stay in Flagstaff.
Winslow - Just a half hour east of Flagstaff is Winslow. You can stand on the corner in Winslow, re-live old Route 66 or, my choice, stay at La Posada (historic Harvey House hotel) and dine in the Turquoise Room You can be sure that the chef has whipped up some Fall fare. When you are in Winslow, take a day trip out to Rock Art Ranch (call ahead) to see the amazing petroglyphs. You'll have the experience of a lifetime.
