Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson used physical and emotional abuse to force Michael and his siblings to perform. Many say that he drove Michael to become what he became, both positive and negative. Yet, Joe Jackson was never prosecuted or even investigated for the abuse that all his children acknowledged occurred.
Instead Joe Jackson appeared on the red carpet and in the front row at Sunday's BET Awards ceremony, which were restructured to commemorate the life of Michael Jackson. At a time when most parents would be isolated in mourning, Joe Jackson was taking credit for his son's contributions while promoting his own projects.
This is not the type of man who should be honored. It would have been more appropriate for him to watch the ceremonies from behind bars. Even more bizarre is the fact that Joe and his wife Katherine have become the temporary guardians for Michael's three children Price, Paris and Prince Michael II (Blanket).
In response to that situation, Joe said,
"We're the parents. This is where they belong. We're going to take care of them and give them the education they're supposed to have."
What kind of education will that be? The same as Michael and his siblings received on the business end of Joe's strap? Where is Children's Protective Services in this high profile situation?
And why haven't Michael's brothers and sisters come forward to protect his children. They have direct experience of Joe's "parenting skills."
May all children receive the love and nurturing that the deserve so that they grow up joyful and able to pass that love and joy onto their children and all humankind.

URGENT. let the networks know that we will not tolerate them giving even a nanosecond of airtime at this or any other time to Michael Jackson's father. It is wrong to give this abuser a spot in the limelight. he hasn't earned it. he belongs behind bars— and frankly so does anyone who dares interview him him at this point in time.
He should have stayed home...If I lost a child there is NO WAY in he!! I would go on national tv promoting a project(record company)...He had a horrible way of showing his grief for the loss of his son.....Disgusted!!!!

I feel that Joe Jackson should be charged with the abuse of his children. I also feel that their mother turned a blind eye and is just a guilty in my mind. I understand that she felt trapped at one point, but, money, as always has influenced her choice to stay married to such a monster. The hangers on, who stand by his side like vultures have no shame. I am hopeful MJ left a will to protect his children and denies his father and mother any rights to any of his fortune. I also never felt MJ was a child molester. I am tired of hearing about it, as if it explains everything. People are very quick to believe everything negative, and though this man at times appeared bizzare, who wouldn't with such an evil man for a father, and siblings who also tried to cash in on his name.......LATOYA, and a mother who looked the other way. I think what happened to the Jackson children happened at a times when physical discipline was normal. It is unfortunate that Michael Jackson passed away especially when he was looking at his final tour. I personally think that people should be greatful his children are with family, and family that the children know. You have to remember Joe Jackson was much younger when he was a father, and I personally cannot see him "beating" his gradnchildren. When Joe Jackson referred to giving the children the education they need I'm sure he merely meant private school or home school. People need to mourn the loss and some people mourn more than others.

Sorry mindyourbusiness, but until you live through this kind of torture by your parents and the lasting effects that it has on you, I hope and pray that Michael's children are kept away from their grandfather. As for the abuse not continuing into the next generation, you are wrong on that issue too. My father tried to assult my son but I stopped him in his tracks and threatened to call the police. Years later, my son thanked me for not letting my hateful father abuse him and for stopping the abuse once and for all. After a few years of counseling and many many tears, I now realize that what I went through as a child was not my fault. The best revenge that I have enacted on my father is to have become a success in my career, a loving wife and mother, and a good friend to all. So until you feel the sting from a paddle, belt, baseball bat, golf club, and are spit at and told that you are stupid on a daily basis, you have no room to judge. Michael's father should be in jail.

Michael's children should not be raised by Joe and why aren't Janet and Michael's other siblings stepping up to raise Michael's children. The entire situation is very questionable. It's obvious that Joe's abuse destroyed his relationship with his son so why would the Jackson family even allow that man around Michael's kids. I guess we shouldn't expect anything more because look how the Jackson's looked out for Michael. Someone in the family should have stepped up to get Michael the help he needed before he died. It looks like Joe Jackson destroyed the entire family because they were all so busy looking out for #1 they forgot to notice the obvious. The media was so busy trying to crucify Michael when he was alive and now that he's dead they're missing the true monster in all of this which is Joe Jackson. I think it's bullshit. I find it sad, when I saw in another interview, that his father hopes he'll be bigger in live than in death. What kind of parent could do anything but grieve about there son who had just passed. It's not normal or natural. He must be very mentally disturbed. However, he's not fooling me.

Joe is a monster. I don't care if corporal punishment was more common in those days - what Michael and his siblings experienced was worse than that. Throughout his adult life, Michael abused himself with drugs and endless plastic surgery, trying to erase the "ugly" his father had convinced him of. And I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Michael had been sexually abused as a child as well. The kinds of self-destructive behaviors Michael spent his adult life doing do not happen without intense, ongoing early childhood trauma.

Much as I am not an advocate of 'brutish maltreatment' as a recipe employed by some parents for ensuring their children are kept on the most behaviourally acceptable path,(or for optimizing the children's talents as Joe tried to instll in Michael and his siblings) I believe, as a father, that Joe as a young,naive and African American father living in a country where 'people of colour'( a misnomer)in that time needed -- and still need to go the extra to prove that they 'can' left him with little choice of becoming a liberal father. If Joe had not been strict in raising his children, would Michael and his siblings have been able to go as far as they have gone musically speaking? Have you ever seen some of Michael's excuses for becoming a white? My father use to always make fun of my legs. He told me I had big thighs and to this day....I hate my legs. I don't care if I get down to 105 lbs, my legs ar enever small enough. Michaels weirdness and all his negative feelings came from his dad. Michael hated what he seen when he looked in the mirror. His dad will pay if not in this lifetime, in eternity. R.I.P Michael. i really hate that his father did that to michael jackson. he is a magnifisent dancer and singer. he was my romodel. i always looked up to him. since i heard that he died i have been crying since the third of july when he died. he didnt deserve to die that way he was such a wonderful person that everyone looked up to. Joe Jackson's demeanor during this interview is unusual for a man who just lost his son under suspicious and sudden circumstances. He seems to brush off inquiries related to how he is doing and how the family is doing during this time. He seems to want to promote himself and his record company. If this is an indication of his depth of feeling for his departed son, this is truly a wretched father. MJ, I feel terrible for you and your family. I agree that something should be done to investigate Joe Jackson's fitness to be guardian of MJ's kids. Pretty frightening scenario.

He also would use forms of terror to get them to do what he wanted (like when he climbed into michael's window as a child wearing a mask to get the point through to him to close the window).
