Prosecutors have announced that they will seek the death penalty against Richard McTear Jr., the man charged with throwing his ex-girlfriend’s three-month-old son, Emanuel Murray out of a moving vehicle and onto I-275, May 5, 2009. A hearing was held today, June 17, 2009 to suppress evidence in McTear’s case from being made public, the notion was denied.
Before the hearing, prosecutors made the announcement that they would seek the death penalty. In the courtroom today, was 21 year old, McTear’s new girlfriend and fiancée, 40-year-old Ida Williams, who cried at the news. Williams claims that she met McTear through her son who is 17. The two began dating after McTear’s arrest and she visits him regularly. Williams referred to McTear as “God fearing.”
