The fire-damaged Wasilla Bible Church
On the night of December 12, 2008, the Wasilla Bible Church was set ablaze by arsonists. At the time, several women and children were inside working on a craft project. They were alerted to the fire when the alarm began sounding, by that time, the front of the church was engulfed in flames. Firefighters began arriving shortly after 9:40 p.m. It took crews from several local communities until 5 a.m. to fully extinguish the blaze. The fire caused close to $1 million in damages. It did not take long for investigators to determine that the fire was an act of arson. An official report claimed that an accelerant was found to have been “poured on and around the outside of the Wasilla Bible Church in multiple places.” In fact, the entrance as well as the exit doors had been doused with the flammable substance in an obvious attempt to see that no one was able to escape the burning building. It would have been obvious to the arsonists that the church was occupied( I use the multiple term because it would have been nearly impossible for one person to spread the massive amount of accelerant used at multiple locations around the 35,000 sq. foot building, particularly in 20-below temperatures.). There were lights on inside, and several cars parked near the front entrance. The attack on the Wasilla Bible church was much more than an arson, it was in fact an act of attempted murder. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Of course, the most glaring motive as to why someone would set fire to a church in tiny Wasilla is the fact that the 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin attends service at the church, and in light of the incredible amount of hatred which has been directed at Gov. Palin as well as to her family, it is a pretty safe assumption that a message was being sent. Given the fact that a church was attacked close to Christmas would seem to be newsworthy enough, but considering the fact that the church attended by Gov. Palin was set fire in such a manner as to kill those inside at the time should have warranted heavy media coverage. However, the only network which devoted any time to the story was Fox News. A quick internet search on the church fire will yield some coverage on a few obscure websites, but beyond Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren’s coverage which lasted only a few days, there was no major media attention given to the crime. So why would the press ignore the story? In my opinion, the following could be a few of the reasons: 1) The Wasilla Bible Church has an all-white congregation (While the oft race-baiting press is always quick to cover a predominantly black church being fire-bombed in an attempt to re-inflame the hostilities of the civil rights era, coverage of white victims in the very Republican state of Alaska may evoke sympathy for the wrong side of the aisle. 2) Gov. Sarah Palin and her family have been the target of vile attacks from the mainstream media. Gov. Palin has been demonized by the press, and every attempt has been made to discredit her and humiliate her children. CBS‘s ‘Late Show’ host David Letterman recently went so far as to describe Gov. Palin as a “slutty flight attendant,” and even suggested that her 14-year-old daughter had been “knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez” during a Yankees game. 3) Perhaps, the most important reason why the press has chosen not to cover the story is that during the months after Palin was chosen as John McCain’s running mate, teams of Democratic Party operatives swarmed the Wasilla area in an attempt to uncover any dirt that could be used against the Governor. Could it be that a few of the more zealous Democrat operatives stayed-on and took their devotion to party a step further, and actually set the blaze?…Such a discovery would be disastrous to the left. Faced with this possibility the mainstream media may have decided not to explore the crime too deeply. Could anyone imagine that no media coverage would have been given, if it had been Barack Obama’s church in Chicago which had been firebombed? Instead, it was Sarah Palin’s church in Wasilla that was the subject of a terrorist act, and the crime has been completely ignored by the press. As a commenter on Sarah Palin’s blog said recently: “This is an ugly case of media bias again directed at Sarah Palin and the church is quite literally collateral damage. It was the media attacks and attention on this church that may have made it a target and, if that is true, the media fanned the flames of hate. To follow up that irresponsibility by remaining silent after the crime is all but despicable." Anytime a church is attacked, it is an attack on our constitutional Freedom of Religion, and the press has an obligation to cover the story, and hopefully cast light on the vile subjects responsible for the crime. They have this obligation, regardless of the race, creed, or even party affiliation of the church’s congregants.

Comments
I strongly favor what Putin in Russia and Chavez in Venezuela did to the media. Enough is enough, we don't need an out of control media
Hatred against Christians and Jews is what the left is all about.
Letterman's comments were clearly spoofing at Palin's 18 year old daughter Bristol, at least to anyone with half a brain and a sense of humor. Get a freaking life.
I never even heard about this and I regularly check the news, and especially did during the electoral process. I know many who supported Palin and I don't they heard about it either.
As for the comments of krater, if letterman was intending to joke about bristol instead of willow, then he should have specifically mentioned her by name. Even then it would have been sick and beyond bad taste. He deserves any consequences and grief he gets as a result of his actions. Everyone keeps blogging that a person in the public spotlight has to put up with the slander and vicious press that comes their way. This holds true for letterman as well. If he is some idol of yours, then you have to put up with the badmouthing about him just like palins fans have to listen to you. Turn about is fair play so YOU sir need to GET OVER IT.
Now six months after the attack there is still no investigation worthy of its name taking place as far as anyone can tell. It is not only possible, but likely that the arsonist(s) were inflamed with a desire to attack Gov. Palin by the media which was in full scale attack mode throughout the election, and continues the attacks 7 months after the election. We know for a fact that DNC operatives continue to file bogus "ethics" complaints, and run a series of vile and vulgar websites attacking Palin. It would be interesting to find out who pays for these websites, who instructs these operatives to file these complaints, and who pays them.
Now is the time we show the rags who they are. We MUST dump massive amounts (Tons)of dirty rags of all types on their door step, doing this will put them on notice that more is to come.
We should call this National Rag Day
1 - To the author: it's Democratic, not Democrat. If you're going to smear someone or something, spell their name properly.
2 - Also: accusing an entire organization (the Democratic Party) of arson is slanderous, ridiculous and in poor taste. If someone made this accusation towards Protestants or Republicans, you would be outraged.
3 - Finally: you bringing up the other attacks on Palin and qualify them as in poor taste, while doing something in similarly poor taste (or even greater poor taste) makes you a hypocrite.
You sir, are a hypocrite and should show a greater sense of shame.
Megan Fox is not content with firebombing churches. I don't look forward to Megan Fox promoting Transformers by sitting with David Letterman and both of them laughing boisterously over the people in America they wish would die.

How can the MSM report anything that conflicts with their product placement and Hollywood promotions?
President Obama has been the target of vile attacks from Fox and conservatives. They lie and demonize him daily. Palin lied at every rally to invoke hate and caused racial slurs and calls to "kill him". Every time she speaks publicly she smears our President. Media attacks against our President is fanning the flames of hate that border on treason. No. 4 possible reason if you are going to speculate Democratic, why not the Palin regime as well? This is a very vindictive, disturbing woman so don't leave that out of the realm of possibilities. I think it's not really hate directed at her, but a reaction to her hate. The press is not always demonizing her, they just report what she says and does. Greg who is being paid to run a series of vile and vulgar websites attacking Present Obama? Not all the ethics complaints are bogus, most are dismissed because she appoints the board. I have never seen more hate and lies in the US than what comes from the "Christians", Palin included.
Both "kill him" allegation were proven by barry's own secret service to be completely unsubstantiated. The reporter who alleged it was so concerned for barry's life that he told no one and wrote about it instead, which is how the SS found out. The editor of the paper - which had previously endorsed barry - stood by his reporter. And barry knew that to be the case when he mentioned it during the last debate.
It wasn't Gov Palin or her family in the church the night. She was nowhere near the church nor expected to be.It was an act of indiscriminate hate that wasnt covered simply because it was her church. Inside were women and children doing crafts for charity. Completely innocent folks whose only fault was wanting to help others.
Everyone should be outraged that it was not given attention simply. And there is absolutely no doubt that barry's church would have been treated differently. That is wrong. And it has nothing to do with FOX's treatment of barry, Letterman or Palin rallies
I like potatoes and lentils.
"The Wasilla Bible Church has an all-white congregation (While the oft race-baiting press is always quick to cover a predominantly black church being fire-bombed in an attempt to re-inflame the hostilities of the civil rights era, coverage of white victims in the very Republican state of Alaska may evoke sympathy for the wrong side of the aisle."
Wow, that's some high-powered wingnuttery. The author of this piece is clearly insane.
Isn't Palin the governor of Alaska? Can't she order a proper investigation? Maybe she's the one behind it! Maybe she's a closet Democrat! OMG! The sky is falling!
Christ, do you Republicans think before you speak? You're actually putting more faith in the investigative potential of the media than the Alaska state police headed by a governor whos church was the one that was attacked? News flash, if Palin wasn't such an idiotic showoff bent on loosing to "Barry" in 2012, maybe she'd get off her butt, don't ya know, and send her police out to do a little investigating themselves. It really amazes me how you Republicans can not only tolerate incompetence by your leaders, but also embrace it. Enjoy the next few decades in the minority.
A simple google search on "Wasilla Bible Church fire" yields hits on CNN, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, NY Times, NY Daily News, LA Times, SF Examiner, The Guardian (UK), USA Today, Anchorage Daily News, Huffington Post (yes, the liberal HuffPo!), a slew of individual TV stations, and of course EVERY single conservative web outlet.
So, what part of the media is ignoring this, please?
What is it with the hatred of Palin by you Leftards of the Democrat party (no, it actually is "Democrat," not "Democratic." There's nothing Democratic about your statist loser of a party)? Do you really fear her that much. I mean attacking her little boy with downs syndrome and then yucking it up about her daughter getting raped. That's not just sick. It's insanely evil. You people really deserve to lose in 2010 and you will. Polls show Republicans in the lead in just about every category. The Democrat brand is in the dirt after Barry Ozero's bumbling on the world stage and his epic fail in Copenhagen (ha ha). You elected a dim-witted beta male who's watched every single one of his policy initiatives fail in the last nine months. He is a pathetic excuse for a "president."
Here's a thought.... maybe the arsonist was a media connected person looking to produce a good story... but you have to be pretty cold hearted to kill women and kids and that's pretty cold even for news people...
Then again I know that the left produces these people in abundance and that many news people are extremely leftist....
Most of you responding to this article couldn't find your own navel, let alone sit there to contemplate it. Your hatred of anyone who is not a Democrat is obvious and pathetically factless (and BTW, the author is correct, the name of your party IS the Democrat Party, NOT Democratic Party). FOX News blows away the competition because people trust it more, and that's the fault of the other news sources.
Got something to say?
