DHS Janet Napolitano
During a recent CNN interview, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was asked about the man known as “America’s toughest sheriff,” Joe Arpaio and the initiative he has taken by apprehending thousands of illegal aliens found in Maricopa County.
CNN’s John King said: “A lot of Democrats in Congress want you to investigate him. They think he is over the line. He says he is just enforcing the law and the problem is the federal government.”
In response, Napolitano said: “Sheriff Joe … knows that there aren’t enough law enforcement officers, courtrooms or jail cells in the world to do what he is saying.”
She went on to say: “What we have to do is target the real evil-doers in this business, the employers who consistently hire illegal labor, the human traffickers who are exploiting human misery. "
“And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se..”
Once again, Janet Napolitano is either ignorant of the law or simply being dishonest.
Crossing our borders without legal authorization is indeed a crime. The specific law states: “Any alien who enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers . . . shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both.”
Additionally, entering this country illegally after being previously having been deported is a felony, and subject to a much stiffer penalty.
During her short tenure, Napolitano has ended work site enforcement, refused additional funding to help protect this country from violent Mexican drug cartels, and called veterans and political conservatives potential terrorists.
It is clear that Napolitano has no intention of enforcing our immigration laws. Apparently, in her mind, the laws do not even exist.

Any illegal alien who has worked or is currently working in the United States has committed one or more of the following crimes: ID theft, document fraud, Social Security fraud, conspiracy to violate immigration laws (if the employer knew he was hiring an illegal alien), income tax evasion (if the illegal alien's wages were paid in cash), and I-9 Form employment fraud. Many illegal aliens also use their stolen or fake ID and documents to apply for and receive welfare and food stamps, which are also crimes.
It seems indefensible that crossing illegally into sovereign nation is not a crime. Any other country in the world, you better have your papers in order or its very likely jail and a severe fine--followed by deportation. Some countries with dictators at the reigns, you could disappear without a trace. As I said before decades of politicians have no doubt been financially bribed or offered favors to weaken our immigration laws. The fact is unlawfully entering the United States in not a criminal, but just a CIVIL OFFENSE. You must re-enter this country after being deported to add any weight to the "Rule of Law." If THE PEOPLE made crossing the border by any means a felony--we would have a massive exodus of illegal immigrants. It is only because of observant organizations that the underfunding of the border fence, E-Verify has been under close scrutiny.
Janet Napolitano must go!. She has done everything in her power to sabotage the immigration laws on the books. The American people demand Obama fire this incompetent pro Amnesty joke of a DHS secretary. Bring back Michael Chertoff!

Legal aliens wait in line for years, pay thousands of dollars in legal fees and form fees. Majority of legal aliens speak English, are educated, pay taxes, have health insurance and are not a burden on this society in any way. Yet, with all that, their status in this country can be revoked at any time and their families end up being split up despite the fact that they did nothing wrong. When illegal aliens get detained, they end up with a work authorization document so they can stay in the US and work!!!! The same ones who entered illegally and broke the law! How wonderful is that!

Crossing the border : a crime BUT as all crime you have to prove that and the only way to do it is by getting people doing the actual act of illegaly crossing. Now you can't just ask for someones immigration papers because they cross the street on the wrong side of the road (to make an example).
If you can't ask for someones immigration papers for crossing the street the wrong way, Than why when I was in college and crossed the street the wrong way did they ask me for my ID or drivers license?

There are criminal offenses and civil offenses. Both are illegal, but civil offenses are not criminal and not handled in criminal court. They are addressed in civil court, so napolitano is correct...illegal aliens are NOT criminals.
Racists who like to smear undocumented aliens as criminal when they have only violated civl law and not criminal law are most likely guilty of civl offenses themselves--jay walking, speeding, littering, etc. and are, therefore, criminals by their own definition.
