Hundreds of children die every year in the custody of Child Protective Services. That's not something the general public is aware of. But that lack of awareness will hopefully end this winter when the full length documentary, Innocence Destroyed, is released.
Innocence Destroyed is not being produced by a half-witted conspiracy theorist but by former firefighter and federal law enforcement officer, Bill Bowen. Bowen, as you can see in the shorter version of the film he has posted on YouTube and which I have embedded below, is intelligent and articulate and just the sort of man needed to produce such a documentary. When you listen to Bowen, you instinctively know that here is a man you can trust--here is a man who tells the truth.
If the short version is any indication of what the full length version will be like, then this film should be entered into competition at Sundance, Slamdance and other film festivals. It is incredibly professional, and the original musical score, particularly Adriana's Theme by Steve Berkowitz is gorgeous.
But behind the beautiful music is the ugly reality, so ugly the movie is not recommended for anyone under sixteen, of children being tortured and murdered while in the care of the very people who are supposed to protect children, Child Protective Services. Particularly difficult to watch are some of the autopsy photos.
The film opens with a heartrending interview with Tausha Cram, mother of Adriana Cram, the subject of the movie's theme song. Tausha did not even find out her daughter had been murdered until a month after her death and then found out that she was murdered and buried in Mexico--that's correct, not New Mexico, but Mexico.
Earlier Tausha had turned to Child Protective Services for help in obtaining insurance and medicine for her daughter's medical condition. Instead of helping her, CPS took her daughter into custody and charged Tausha with medical neglect. Rather than placing the child with her aunt as promised, CPS placed Adriana with an aunt and uncle of Tausha's abusive partner, whom she had left because of his abuse. The aunt and uncle lived in Mexico. Adriana went to live with them and was beaten and tortured on a daily basis until she died.
Adriana's story is just one of the thousands that Bill Bowen has investigated in the past three years. The film tells only a few of these stories. The film reveals that the torture and death of children in the custody of Child Protective Services is too widespread to be ignored.
Bowen also investigates the secrecy of Child Protective Services, the supposed "best interest of the child" standard of CPS and family court, the nepotism in many Child Protective Services agencies, child abuse by CPS investigators, children who have disappeared or who have run away from CPS care, bias in family court and court transcripts that don't accurately reflect audio recordings
Bowen interviews not only parents who have had their children murdered while in the custody of CPS, he interviews forensic pathologists, former CPS workers, court reporters and more.
Bowen's short film, Innocence Destroyed, filmed by Chris Walters and Dan Jagels, is a powerful indictment of Child Protective Services. It is powerful not only because of Bowen's exhaustive search for the truth, but also because of his skill as a writer and filmmaker. Bowen's skill as a filmmaker is seen throughout the movie, but it is particularly shown at the beginning and near the end. The opening interview with Tausha Cram draws you into the film. The closing scene (see the photo above) of Tausha lying on Adriana's grave in Mexico, asking for her daughter's forgiveness, is one of the most unforgettable images I have ever seen in any movie.
If this film doesn't move you, then you might question whether or not you really are a member of the human race.

The pro-abortion people declared that with that option available to every woman there would be no more unwanted children, therefore there would be no abused or neglected children. .My opinion then nd now is that easy abortions coarsen people and harden them, making the loving care children need in order to grow and thrive more difficult to find... as if the irresponsible adult's response to a challenging child is, "why are you even alive; why didn't your stupid mother abort you?" This, to me, is socialism in a capsule: the system is what matters, not the unfortunate beings that are caught in it.... They need the numbers to be needed, to keep their paychecks coming, and no subterfuge is beyond their reach; parents can be criminalized on the flimsiest unproven charges when the courts don't care and the agency is corrupt. Socialism, in all its dresses, is evil at the core, for it packs too much power into too few hands, In this case, the weakest and most innocent suffer most tragically.
"Joe" I poromise you I will be investigating the Native Amererican angle of this story in the full length film which is coming out in a few months. It is actually called "In the Best Interest of the Children." Dave Weaver's article showed me one thing. That man got it. "Jared" Thank you for posting this most important story. There still remains a lot of work to be done in bringing the public's awareness up to knowing about these abuses and the deaths of these innocent children. The longer film will bring out so much more about the corruption in the system. Watch for it , please.

You are truly a Gift from God. I pray for this madness to stop and when will someone hear the children crying. I have friends who have a theatre and I would love to know when this film will be released and if their is a possibility it can be shown here in upstate NY. People NEED to know how corrupt this system is. I said when my case was over I would never stop fighting for the children and reuniting them with their parents. I plan to open a center for reuiniting parents and children one day. We need change and we need it now!!

I finally watched the second and third videos, having to look aside a couple of times. Now it's my turn to turn up the volume on this travesty occurring in our Children's Protective system and the court system.
It's easy to grow weary if you've been whistleblowing on the state for a long time, but I realize that too many children continue to be in the crosshairs of the state each and every day. Lastly, in memory of the young innocent lives cut short or who were maimed or seriously neglected---by CPS/DHS neglect, I will do my part to spread the word on a corrupt, out-of-control nanny state.
The misconduct and incompetence of, "Children's Protective Services" (oxymoron) as well as the entire court system dealing with parental rights, must be exposed to the public.
It appears Bill's documentary will accurately portray this ongoing tragedy better than anything I've run across and I hope it gets the National and world wide attention it deserves.
I can only say that this is horrific. How can an agency claim to be protecting these children when they are dying while in thier care. Something needs to be done about these agencies.
I can't stop crying after watching Mr. Bowen's well documented videos. I can only pray that my granddaughter whom I held De Facto parent status on does not die in the placement she was put in. The last picture of her makes me die inside. She looks thin and frail. The step-grandmother who she was fraudulently adopted out to by a Social Worker in CA admits to having made her an object of servitude and everybody just stands by saying the adoption cannot be reversed while I watch her die and receive calls that she wants to come home. I can't imagine her anguish living with drug addicts and alcoholics whose adoption evaluation (I have copy of) information was never verified. It was all about how much money social services could put in the coffers. The worst part about all this is that I have now become a foster parent hoping to help some of these children trapped in a system that has failed these children and I watch first hand how the system works. The only way to prevent these deaths and the continuing abuses of CPS and the courts is to speak out about them, make them public, do not let these children and these families be forgotten....How many more children have to die before something is done to stop the mass murder of the innocent who are supposed to be protected by CPS?
It was late when I got a call from my grand daughter from a foster home her and her brother were in. The foster parents had weeks earlier cut off my calls. She said her stomach hurt so bad and she was hungry and worried about her little brother. She said "They have food here but won't let us eat it." I frantically the worker and leave messages with no reply. But they are better off with CPS? Give me my grandchildren you monsters.

Thank you so much for this! I work in the field and am aware of the enormous lack of healthy, caring foster homes. For many, fostering has become a business. I know of several individuals who care for 7 to 12 foster children in their homes. Often times, these kids wind up in psychiatric hospitals which is where I come into contact with them. It doesn't make sense to place a child with severe emotional issues in a house full of other children with the same types of problems, but that is exactly what is happening in Texas. There is a lack of one-on-one care, so naturally neglect happens. When the behavior gets intense enough the foster parents give CPS their notice to have the child placed somewhere else.. kids are moved around many times on a regular basis. They are behind in school and the cycle perpetuates itself. The system is a mess. Please keep doing what you are doing!

They took my 4 month old baby they took him away because me and the father of my son got into an argument. on monday in court. It's about money and power!!! CPS/DHS, lawyers, psychologist, psychiatrists, social workers, and others make money from trafficking children. CPS/DHS gets Title IV social security money for these children. At the lower lever (the CPS workers) it's about POWER and Control. Many of these workers are not well educated and from my experience are not very bright. But, they do have a ton of unbridled power. It's not about doing what's right, but, about wielding power. Are there abused children? Yes. But, they seem to miss most of them. How many times have we read about the mistakes of CPS? How many more children have to die because of their extreme incompetence? CPS cannot be fixed. They must be dismantled (torn down) and rebuilt with new rules and better people. They must be stripped of their immunity. If it is proven they did wrong, then they must be help liable.
I am the mother portrayed in the third part of the video, although my name is spelled incorrectly, but that is minor issue compared to the issues my children have been through and are still going through. My husband and I never abused or neglected our children, yet this is what DHS has claimed we have done. They were never abused until they entered foster care. We are still fighting for our children, even though we have already won in the Appeals courts twice against them. They are holding my children as ransom and it needs to stop. The only way to do this is to make them accountable when they are wrong, instead of giving them almost absolute immunity when stealing our children. They deal best in human trafficking. I was under the impression that it was illegal in the United States of America? Guess I was wrong.

They STOLE our 3 kids (one was not even BORN yet) and gave them to my mom & her controlling female partner. I've been screaming my story to anybody who will listen. My children were NOT abused. They were taken on the basis of hearsay, speculation, and false allegations. In other words just to financially, morally, mentally,and physically BANKRUPT us.
Thank you all for exposing the evils of the CPS. All 10 of our beautiful, biological children were ripped away from us in 2001. After 9 years, the only ones we have back are the older ones who have aged out of the system. My baby was only 5 days old when she was ripped out of my arms. My pain never stops. I want my babies back!
They attempt to take my child, had him in their custody for 2 weeks and another 2 weeks with a family member. They tried it because I kicked the social workers marijuana supplier out of my house! I will fight them to no end, till ever child that was wrongfully abducted by these criminals comes home.

This is heartbreaking. I'm an RN and advocate for child welfare and adoption reform. Abuse is common in adoptive homes, too. Adopters are idealized, but many have serious psychological problems. It's not PC to criticize adoption but it's corrupt and evil and we won't be silent. Children are at greater risk of abuse and death in the 'care' of people who aren't blood relatives. That is the simple, horrible truth.
I was recently shut in a court room off the record and threatened for exposing chid abuse and neglect by a law guardian, and unethical lawyers, and cps who decided to cover the fact that they hid physical and sexual abuse of my children, by stripping the children from me with only evidence to their action and pictures of bruises. I cannot continue in my legal pursuit in education now. Not a soul here helps stop the corruption and threats as I was told that there are no civil rights in Judge Murads courtroom. I am a Social Worker who was indoctrinated in the very extreme, gender feminist ideology of these departments. It took many non-custodial parents (mothers and fathers alike) to de-program me and to take the scales off my eyes to finally see how these departments work. Incompetence eventually corrects itself, but these atrocities are NOT (as the bureaucrats would have us believe) merely "isolated cases" in an otherwise well functioning system. It takes decades of research to ascertain that his is routine and common-place. the only difference is that media dont report these stories with any great vigor as they might if it were a crime against an adult by any other party. Read anonymoususer's post to see how official apologists operate. Then read the comments of carers and parents who have been adversely affected and see if you can spot the difference.

Thank you for exposing the corruption of CPS and how they rip loving families apart. My baby daughter Sabrina was kidnapped by them in 2005, on false charges, which were later overturned. She is five years old now, and I have not been able to see her for three years.

As a former foster, now adoptive, parent, (DSS, or CPS as it is known in most areas) went through our lives with a fine tooth comb! At one point, they suggested I may be a drug dealer or shadier, since I was well to do and working part time! When they asked for finacial information, they only wanted to know what my income was-not my net worth! I had hit it big in the stock market shortly before. They treated me like a criminal! Then I see some of the folks 'ok'd' for foster parenting-I wouldn't allow some of these folks to walk my dog! There is a need for a major overhaul! I ended up hiring an attorney to protect my son's interests. She was a former DSS social worker, now an attorney who exclusively worked against DSS due to their practices. My son is 9 now, love of my life. Major overhaul-soon! I was nearly rejected because my elder brother did not recieve his reference form-he was living in France for the summer! Imagine.
These are tragic stories. The system is broken. However, most would agree that a system is necessary. Of the three foster children we had over an 18 month period we worked with two different drug-addicted birth mothers. The "best interest of the children" mantra was touted to us again and again. What we didn't know was that the "best interest" was always presumed to be family. We lost the baby we were eager to adopt after 8 months of caring for her from the NICU to a great uncle and his wife. They were accused of having been fired from jobs for theivery, and having and unstable marriage, but they were "good enough" and had the requisite DNA. The baby now lives in a trailer with parents whose primary method of communication is screaming. The judge went against both DHS and the guardian's recommendation and placed the baby with them.
The way we see it, the system has lost the ability to attract the best foster parents because the "best interest" is always the family.

If one man can change CPS, it would be Bill Bowen. What I have seen with CPS it takes an incredible heart to continue such a journey. Most could not face such ugly stories. I come from a dark past myself, so I know the dark side. I'm hear to say I honor Bill for his GREAT work and detication.

If one child dies in the care of the child protective servises it is to meny. This system is suppost to help children and their families, but infact does the total opposite. All this orginization wants to do is colect the funding from the tax paters and steel children to do so. How the governments can just sit back and watch this happen to the good tax payers is something to really think about. They all say that they are there for the people. But when does this start ?
