Symptoms of illegal border crossings include a Rape Tree

Garments left behind at Rape Tree

For those seeking to reach the promised land, the trek is rife with many perils, including a Rape Tree on the U.S.-side of the border near Campo, California. In the dead of summer, the throngs of illegal border crossers face heat exhaustion, long distances without hydration and a Rape Tree.

The U.S./Mexico border fence is only a 15 minutes away.  It is here where females face the wrath of their coyote (smuggling) guides. The trail that leads to the Rape Tree is littered with plastic water bottles and female undergarments.

This is just another symptom of illegal immigration. Many think the majority of the illegals coming across the Southern border are simply here to seek a better life. Some are, but as the Rape Tree demonstrates, many are also in the U.S. committing crimes.

There are a number of illegals picked up by Border Patrol who have prior criminal records ranging from spousal abuse to murder. According to many Border Patrol agents, criminal aliens have no respect for the rule of law in this country, the Rape Tree provides evidence.

The winding trail that leads to the Rape Tree is riddled with large rock-and-crevice hiding places that make it extremely difficult for Border Patrol agents to track and find those crossing into this desolate region of California.

The border fence near the Rape Tree is virtually nonexistent (see slide show). The old fence is made up of sheets of metal making it easy to climb, but there isn’t a need to climb when illegal border crossers may duck under the flimsy barb-wire portion of the border fence near the Rape Tree.

Once inside America, illegals have already broken their first law, for many it will not be their last. As the remnants of the Rape Tree point out, the illegal aliens are likely to either be the victim or perpetrator of future crime.

Kim, thanks for writing this story. That tree has been there for a long time. Too many reporters have ignored it. It is the tip of the iceberg of corruption that is occurring because of the way the politicians handle our border problem. What will it take for the people to rise up and demand that our borders be made secure?

to "Truth": You wrote: "Why do you think that everyone is a folly that you are writing this as a disguise." Please try to make sense in the future. And try to be nice to people. At least the author is exposing corruption. There will always be more to report.

How we do know women are raped here? How do we not know that they are willing to have sex with the men who help them?

Althought there is a strong implication that the "Rape Tree" is the site of rapes, but there's nothing to explain why this particular tree is significant other than the statement, "It is here where females face the wrath of their coyote (smuggling) guides." ( Wouldn't "lust" fit better than "wrath"? ) The caption for the picture mentions "garments left behind", but I think the text alone should explain.

"What kind of culture even begins to even think of something like this, let alone acting on it numerous times"

Kim; had you included anecdotal evidence of the "rapes" provided by the victims themselves, your story may have held more credence. I have worked in the border areas for many years, and the only people promulgating the existence of "rape trees" were sensationalists. There is no doubt that our southern border fosters a proportionate level of criminal activity, but this particular story smacks of the wide-eyed, breathless manner in which enthusiasts describe the existence of Bigfoot (the monster, not the monster truck).
"The public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything; except what is worth knowing. Journalism, conscious of this, and having tradesman-like habits, supplies their demands."

Pyyro, its very disturbing that you equate testimonys by victims of rape (even desribed this very location many times)to akin of bigfoot sightings, this rape tree or for that matter the rapes by Mexican officials in the southern border of Mexico on illegals entering Mexico to coyotes raping illegals entering the usa is widely known.

For you to claim to live or work near the southern border and have such ignorance is absurd

I was at the local Walmart in the underwear aisle and saw several pairs of women's panties ont he floor. I can only assume that several women were raped right there in the local Walmart. I tried reporting this to the authorities but was ignored. My next option is to submit an artilce to the examiner. We must all join together to hlat rape in Walmart.

Seriously... did you consider that someone may have changed their dirty undies near the tree and left them behind because carrying dirty undies on your illegal hike is not fun? Why not write some articles on FEMA camps, UFO's, and other useless stuff... can't wait for the angry reply. Save a woman, rape a tree.

No doubt folks there are indeed "Rape Trees" in the United States of America in the rural border areas. Big business wants slow paid slave wage workers, the illegal aliens pay human smugglers to smuggle them, illegals backpack drugs in, the sex-slave trade smuggles their sold humans down the smuggling trails, and all because there is no real Homeland Security on the border. Besides the cartels need the money and they can do what they want to the people they smuggle, who is going to stop them?

borderinvasionpics.com has film of the smuggling trails, the film is collected from hidden cameras.

Rodney, thanks for stepping up to the plate. Thanks also for using proper grammar and punctuation.

The plain answer is "You do not know that I have worked in the border area for years," other than the information in my former post. However, the nature of my work on the (Mexican/U.S.) border, both in an official (paid) and unofficial (free-lance) capacities were on the order of desert conservation, migratory trend analysis, and sociology.

I am not a journalist, but I am an author and a photographer. Each of you (judging by your interest in our nation's border) has in all probability viewed my work at least once, if only through an internet image search.

As to my potentially being a sensationalist; perhaps "empiricist" is a more accurate moniker.

There is no doubt that violence is rampant on our southern border, particularly that related to illegal drug trafficking. That violence, unfortunately, will continue as long as there is a U.S.-based demand for illegal product.

There is a term for people who distract like this during debate.

Again qoute "I am not a journalist, but I am an author and a photographer"

Well Sir/Ma'am if your anything you state you are either a liar or a very incompetent writer cause as a writer one would have to atleast make an effort to fact check prior to making blind statements on an issue.
Fact is there is rape trees, you may start with google searches or the info provided here.

Ahh sorry, but heres a little frank talk with yah.
1,The goverment hasnt tried enforcing that border yet i and millions of Americans pay billions in taxes for security.

2,You mean to tell me the largest in both terms of budget and sophisticated weapons, surrveliance etc military in the world couldnt shut that border down in a day if it wanted too?

3,If the goverment did its job not only would drugs become soo exspensive here people would quit but the price would drop in Mexico to make it not worth it.

But again you will not adress not one issue an continue to call rape trees myths, and blame all or most violence on the border on drugs.
you have an agenda and it isnt for Americas best interest.

Who says all of the victims are invaders..... besides, some of those victims may well be minors brought in by their parents. They too deserve being raped? What a repugnant pig you are NEFI.

    OT,
From the article: "As the remnants of the Rape Tree point out..." That should read "As the remnants at the Rape Tree point out..." Remnants OF the Rape Tree would indicate pieces of wood, bark, leaves, etc and etc. Where are your copy Editors?
