'Science Czar' John P. Holdren's disturbing beliefs about America, capitalism and humanity

John P. Holdren has been named President Barack Obama's 'Science Czar."

Holdren's official titles are: Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; Assistant to the President for Science and Technology; and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

The longtime Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Holdren is no stranger to controversy.

Holdren's radicalism dates back to the late 1960s. In 1969 Holdren wrote that it was imperative “to convince society and its leaders that there is no alternative but the cessation of our irresponsible, all-demanding, and all-consuming population growth.”

That same year, he and (the now largely discredited) professor of population studies Paul Ehrlich jointly predicted: “If … population control measures are not initiated immediately and effectively, all the technology man can bring to bear will not fend off the misery to come.” In 1971 Holdren and Ehrlich warned that “some form of ecocatastrophe, if not thermonuclear war, seems almost certain to overtake us before the end of the century.”

Viewing capitalism as an economic system that is inherently harmful to the natural environment, Holdren and Ehrlich in 1973 called for “a massive campaign … to de-develop the United States” and other Western nations in order to conserve energy and facilitate growth in underdeveloped countries.

“De-development,” they said, “means bringing our economic system into line with the realities of ecology and the world resource situation.” “By de-development,” they elaborated, “we mean lower per-capita energy consumption, fewer gadgets, and the abolition of planned obsolescence.” "

In a new report “inspired by this article in FrontPage,” undercover videoblogger “Zombietime” (known for his “candid camera”-style exposes of leftist activists and protesters) got hold of a copy of Holdren & Ehrlich’s 1977 book, entitled Ecoscience, and verified the quotations and page citations provided in the FrontPage Magazine article, by scanning and posting them on the Internet.

To this day, Holdren lists the book on his CV.

Among other things, Holdren and Ehrlich wrote in Ecosystems:

Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.

Look at the "green jobs" Czar, Van Jones.

A self confessed COMMUNIST! Another far left radical in the likes of the other Obama friend and domestic terrorist.

Jones started Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a multi-racial activist collective with Marxist influences.

""I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.' I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary," he said."

""I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th," he said. "By August, I was a communist.""

Just another in a long line of tax cheats and far left radicals who are getting a front row seat at the table in order to destroy the American way of life.

Stop with the Communism comments, already. It's so old, it can barely get out of bed in the morning. Same with Socialism comments. We are ALL socialists, whether you want to admit it or not. The question is how far to we want to go in one direction or the opposite. You cannot work the scale properly without balance on the far end, and you can't have a working society (OR the necessary government) without balance.

It's so typical that the "planners" of Utopian society always fall back on totalitarian methods to achieve their "good" ends.

    Happy:

The "liberals" are Marxists, but the "conservatives" are typically too heavily influenced by the Trotskyite neocons. They both are statist -- more power and prestige to themselves and less liberty and property to individuals.

Too bad few people understand what Classical Liberalism really meant.

I learned of the NAM LEADERS goals decades ago. They do want a severe reduction in the population and they're calling for it under the guise of concern for the environment. One gentleman said he'd like to start the earth over with a nucleus of 75,000 people.

They believe they are a new grade of humans, a more evolved breed through their spiritual techniques and they think normal humans should die out. This sounds crazy except we've heard this talk of a superrace before.

Redistribution of wealth, population control (through abortion and other means)and nuclear disarmament are all part of their goals. What they don't want people to know about disarmament though, is they've said in their writings they want to put the weapons into the hands of select few, to use against those who oppose their NA agenda.

History has a way of repeating itself. People won't be able to believe this anymore than they could believe the truth in WW2. Let's wake up this time!

Let us face it, USA as a Republic is no more. People who had taken power are pursuing their agenda which is based on serving the interests of a limited stratum of elitist people whose health and wellness is no longer dependent on the wellness or health or even very existence of the general masses of population the world over. Mathematically it is more efficient to abolish the variables that simply make the whole equation unnecesarily bulky and expensive. It is just business, nothing personall. Although, who knows!

Obama's people are idiots, and have believed in Satan's lies. Somebody give these supposed experts a copy of America Alone by Mark Steyn. One of the best things America can do to preserve our country is to have lots of children. Every right minded person realizes that children are a heritage unto the Lord. Mark writes in his book that Europe will be destroyed because they are not having enough children and will be taken over by Muslims because Europeans are not having enough children to replace themselves.

The TRUTH must be told. This earth is too grand and breathtaking to believe that it came into existence in any other way than God created it. Why did God create the earth? He created it for man to use. Man is the boss over the earth. The earth is not the boss over man. The earth is big enough and has enough resources and to spare to fulfill its purpose. The earth’s purpose is to house the children of God. Man is eternal and has always existed. Man was not created in the womb of our mothers. So there are still lots of spirits (children of God) who still need to come to earth. To say the earth (The United States of America) is not big enough to contain more people is ridiculous and a lie. There is still plenty of open and unused space in the United States. If you live in a crowded state and can’t see this, consider doing a cross country road trip throughout the United States.

Let me quote a greater intellect than yourself; "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein. Science is GOD given too, and not often used to its full potential in examining scripture (ie: many christians believe earth is only 8,000yrs old when SCIENCE tells us its much older, as does the book of Genesis). Now who is really trying to destroy who? Time to hop out of your facet and see the whole diamond, friend.

John Holdren is typical of the corrupt of the progressives movement – their thought seems to be right out of the twilight zone. Their thought is so far from what Americans' think that they have to use double talk, and mislead people into thinking socialists/elitists are more capable of running the Republic than the serfs/people.
It's not immpossible to understand what's going on – researching history will show this has happened before (maybe not with as much arrogance as now being displayed) – We the people must stop this – trusting the gov. to take care of us hasn't worked in the past, and won't work in th future. The people are supposed to control the gov. NOT the gov. control the people.

    Well Kathy,
If one has the whole picture then it is possible to plan a clear route. It should be common sense that you don't build things to self-destruct. We don't breed in our house until it is unusable - especially if there is no where else to go - who's house and children will you take? The people planning things are thinking ahead to the time when we are allowed to join the galaxy of space travelling worlds. Do you really enjoy being a de-facto slave to a multinational conglomerate of soulless corporations? Today's problem is that the problems have momentum and the course must be changed. Those who stand to directly benefit from our actions are your descendants it is called planning. This is not an attack on Democracy or Capitalism, Science or Religion. The cornerstone of freedom is the ability to be flexible and to search for a better way to live within and with creation - whatever that turns out to be.

The poster completely and deceitfully ignores Holdren's testimony at his Senate confirmation that the government should have no role in population control.
The poster provides no evidence that Ehrlich has been "discredited" -- and never even says which of his ideas have allegedly lost their credibility.

In their recent responses, which the poster does not mention, they state such passages are descriptive of what could be done, not what should be done, and say their decades of publishing since then back that up. This possibility should be investigated, not ignored.
